just for the record

this painting represents 3 of my basic principles

immanence

meaning that we are each a manifestation of living being of earth, that nature, culture and life in all its diversity are sacred - immanence calls us to take action to preserve the life of the earth, to live with integrity and responsibility...

interconnection

an understanding that all BEING is related, what affects one affects all, and it demands from us compassion, the ability to feel with others so strongly that our passion for justice is itself aroused...

community

primary focus meaning that we do not only strive for individualism but establish intimate connections with many through the everyday community includes people animals and the systems necessary to support eveyday life... sorry it is long winded but it is straight out of journal without any editing

Kind of a shame you couldn't capture the painting within a painting with the photo. I am intrigued about that......effect. One question though, the gold and metallics...are they paint? Is there a metallic effect in the blue background? Really cool composition.

the background i used irridecent acrylic on matt black (with fingers)

the gold is paint and there is some silver metal leaf too

Wendy, this is really a spiritually powerful piece. It is easy to sense that the concepts are important to you. I like the shapes you chose to represent the different elements you describe. The patterns have a very native feel to them. Nice rhythm to the piece.

Nice use of metallics, too - it is difficult to use metallics without them becoming overpowering.

I like this painting very much Wendy, it is actually in a style that I would buy and put on my walls. If I could afford it that is LOL!

I like painting with my fingers as well, there is a very primative feel to it and somehow it seems to add more feeling to the picture as well. Very imediate :D

Wendy what's the size of this? I get the impression that it is quite large?

wendy bandurski 15 Feb 2005

It is not too large by my usual standards - 85cm by 41cm by 10cm this is a wrap around box canvas - it is a shame i can't show more of the substance in photos . . .
