where the hell are the calendars ?

I'm really shocked by the suposed understanding of everyone on this problem .... Is no one bothered by the fact that artwanted charged you at least 25 bucks for a calendar that you've already lost more than a month and a half on ? I'm not too bloody impressed.

I mean, I ordered it in decemember. My art's in it and several friends on here as well. It was to be a present for someone but, I guess that point is moot now.

I received an Email on january 12th saying that they still hadn't received them from their printers ...

Now tell me ... Who is going to take responsibillity for this Andy ? People can sometimes have an understanding with a friend that if something's late you forgive and forget. If I had ordered the book it's be more understandable, but a calendar is based on the premise that it's time sensitive. What are you going to do to rectify this ? I'm honestly curious.

You can whine and complain that it's the printers fault or that you're too swamped with work and projects but, tell me .. is this our fault ? Hire people ... that's what expanding businesses do to pick up the slack. As for the Printer. I'm sure you had a contract with them stating that the calendars would be sent out to the people that ordered well before 2005 even began. Seems to me they've breached that contract forcing you to breach ours. Can we say REFUND ? I sugest you at the very least refund the artists who's calendar page has gone by, as for the rest of the people ... well hell I'm sure that they are just as unimpressed as I am.

Any other company would cancel the deal and refund the customers. If it gets too bad the customers can contact their credit card companies and cancel that purchase, and you're lucky you don't get a class action suit set against you. I know that one of america's favourite pasttimes is sueing each other.

I know there will be the sympathic responses that I see here the moment there's a complaint. For all it's worth you can feel sorry about it. Good for you. I try to be patient with most problems but, this is just rediculous.

I don't see any other complaints about this problem ... I supose Andy will pull it ASAP to try to placate the masses. Perhaps others have been pulled before mine ?

All I know is that I think there are plenty of people wanting answers to this problem. Maybe have the printer do the calendars up for the 2006 year ? ... maybe that way we'll get them before the end of this year and be able to use them for something more than pieces of paper to whipe our butts with .... although I'm sure people by now would have new and/or different artwork that they would choose to feature as a calendar page.

Our loss .... Bigtime.

Sincerly Disgruntled John

I too am puzzled at how well most people are taking this. I'd like at least a partial refund. I also think that this has gone from being merely late (sigh) to ridiculous (damn!)

Due to a reprimand by AW for speaking out, i cannot make comments or any positive help for the situation and issue at hand, but i wish you the best of luck in a speedy resolution.... ยง...

* At last report, the calendar is now in the mail...

John i believe we are cousins... : )

Here's a quote from AW on 02/08/05 at 9:10PM

We feel the exact same way...are we there yet? Fortunatly, the calendars will be shipped out this week and then we don't have to mention the work 'calendar' for at least another 6 months. Many changes will happen if there is ever to be another one.

We wanted to let everyone know that we have finally received the ArtWanted.com calendars this week. We are shipping them out this weekend and on Monday. We appreciate all of you who participated in the calendar and sincerely apologize for the long delay in getting them printed and out to you. We will be the first to admit that there are many things that we will change if we do another calendar for 2006. The good news is that we were able to use most of the 'bonus' images that were uploaded, so most artists featured in the calendar have two dates/pages. Hopefully this will make up for some of the artists that had specified dates in Jan & Feb.

We hope that all of you that purchased a calendar will enjoy seeing new artwork from our members each day of the year.

you've been reprimanded Sher ? If they'd even dare to reprimand me, or attempt to shut me up, I'd tell them pretty quick where they can shove artwanted.

Oh and you are more like my evil female twin ... Hahaha ... just kidding.

We pay for being here ... We are the clients ... and as much as I don't like to have to admit it in real life .... The client is always right.

I opened an account on another site and have had three invites by email to join other art gallery type sites in the past few weeks. I don't need to put up with any of the bullshit that we are being fed and neither do you or anyone else here.

The censorship borders on rediculous, and the time it takes to get a modification or honest response is just sad and more than a bit pathetic. If it doesn't get any better within the next couple weeks I'll be downgrading to the free memebership status .... if not just shutting down here all together. At least if it were free I would sit quietly and say "Hey, I can't bitch, I'm not losing a year's paying membership which I think cost me 32 dollars, nor paying 25 bucks for a calendar that I can't even use. Thank God I didn't order a bunch for friends and family. I hesitated about the Artwanted book. Telling myself ... let the first one slide. If it's as great as they are hyping it to be then I'll definately get into the second one. Too bad I wasn't smart enough to do the same for the calendar.

bye

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

Oh and one more note on this.

If any of the baldfaced lies written in emails about the calendars having being sent out is true ... Well let's confirm it folks. I love eating Crow ...

There would be plenty of lame posts saying I finally got my 10 monthish Artwanted calendar It's awsome !!! Yay ... Thank you Art Wanted you are so great and I'll blindly ignore your pathetic customer service because you're soooo great.

sincerly the guy at artwanted in charge of hyping up artwanted with bogus complimentary emails and messageboard posts .... err ... I mean sincerly George, from Alabama

Prove me wrong and I'll gladly apologize.

I haven't heard anyone tell me that they've received their's yet.

Delete my thread and I'll stir a pot of shit that'll send artwanted reeling.

Time to come out of the closet and put on the big boy pants Andy. We all make mistakes. Time to take responsibility.

Need a spoon?...

sher richardson 17 Feb 2005

.....evil?

: )

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

Haha .... Actually can I borrow a shovel ? A spoon just won't do .....

Awwwww I'm sorry Sher. From what I see you're more than likely too nice, rather than evil.

This thread is more to get their attention and to make them finally pull their heads out of their asses and act like the men and women that they suposedly are. We don't deserve this kind of treatment at all, and it's way past due time that they step up.

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

I have thrown the fact out, that The Proverbial cheque ( Calendar ) is in the mail stament that I've recieved from ( not you personally ) Your staff members, Whomever they are. Right out here in the open, calling it a LIE.

I'll patiently wait for you to prove me wrong and then I'll apologize readily.

Until that happens ... You and yours SIR, have indeed lied to us. Faithfull paying members of your site and also customers that made a purchase in good faith from your company. I wonder what the consumer protection agency would think of this little fiasco ???? Don't you ?

Volunteer of America 17 Feb 2005

Maybe it will all "just go away"...

Gary Glass 17 Feb 2005

I feel that we (who bought one, I ordered mine back in Nov.) should get some form of a refund as this has gone way past laughable.. I realize that there was a glitch in the printing but if the printers had the info etc for this project and they should have known roughly at least how long this would take to produce. Unless they have only been in buisness for a week or month LOL.. It is either AW's or the printers fault for this delay. Either in Andy not getting the project to them in time or the printers just really not knowing what a calendar project takes. The end results is we should not be taking the hit on this. As was mention we shelled out a good portion of money to buy this with our own art work in it.. and for a lot of people all it is going to amount to now is a memory stack of paper with their images, As two months are about past and as most calendars are already being reduced in price. This was a poorly conceived and implemented project..for the fiasco it has turned into.. Andy , you should do the right thing on this.. who ever was at fault for this being extemely late should shoulder some of the $ on this and some form of rebate/refund should be offered.

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

I'm sure as soon as they see my post they'll make it dissapear ... You know what they say ... out of (site) pun intended ... outa mind. Until The lawyer send them a letter demanding refunds for everyone.

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

like I said earlier Gary ... for a printing project of that caliber there had to have been a contract agreement that the printer in question could meet the deadline well in advance of 2005. They've certainly breached contract ... forcing Artwanted to breach contract with us. They should can the printer ... unless, it's like Andy's brother in law or something ... or a part of their own company ... AKA printswanted.com 'phraps ? .... smells a little fishy to me.

WESTERN ARTWORK By Denny Karchner 17 Feb 2005

...wheels coming off...crash and burn...

joan warburton 17 Feb 2005

At the risk of being blasted out of here, I agree with what you have to say, John. I also think that you could have used your remarkable talents to find a way to express your thoughts and feelings a little more respectfully. Not just for AW but for all of us who come onto the site to enjoy the communication and the artwork.

I'm sorry but this whole thread made me ill.

John Houle 17 Feb 2005

Joan .... unlike artwanted I wouldn't blast you, attempt to silence you, nor deny you, your opinion.

I'm sorry this makes you ill .... but know that no one forced you to read it. You have the free will to click that little back button in the upper left corner at any time.

As for expressing myself in a different way. Feel free to toss me some sugestions, for I am all ears.

I've let it slide for over two months now without saying a word. I think my patience has been reasonable. I'm sorry if you do not agree ...

Unlike artwanted I do not merely bark ... I bite and time has come for something to be done.

In a world where little chances are given ... I think everyone has given them ample time to take the chance to remedy the problem. I've seen posts about how they are swamped with emails and that the magority are from non paying members ... funny, as this seems you'd think that these non paying members emails would get a quick glanceover and put into a folder to answer later when time permited ... I know easier said than done ... I'm no fool in that regard but someone needs to learn how to prioritize or he'll find his business going the way of the dinosaur ...... EXTINCT

I really like the layout of artwanted .... Normally I have no complaints ... trust me it gives me no joy to complain now as it is .... but I don't see why many of the people here including myself should be screwed over by a site we've come to love and support.

Welcome to the real world Joan ... It's not all rainbows and butterflies.

That last bit was from a maroon 5 song ... I just wanted to give them credit so that they don't decide to sue my ass ... hahaha

joan warburton 17 Feb 2005

My artwork and AW are my escape from the very "real" world I live in.

I agree with everything you've said but it just hurt to read the harsh words. I don't have an alternative so maybe it's wrong of me to criticize. Words are my nemesis.

If I try to explain, I'll wind up backing myself into a corner because words are sometimes my enemy. I only have gut reaction to go by and it was hard to read this thread, I guess, for selfish reasons. I deal with other people's anger and frustrations all day.

ArtWanted.com Staff 17 Feb 2005

John, you have a right to be upset and so does everyone else for not getting calendars before the start of the year. If you take everyones frustration and times that by 100, that is what we are feeling.

The calendar was plagued from the beginning and has had countless problems since day one. We have learned many things, unfortunatly due to how bad this has been.

We have pushed as much as possible with the printer for some type of compensation, but they too bit off more than they could chew. Without a formal agreement (1st big mistake) we don't have much recourse. And no, no family relation. :-)

We have made it well known to everyone that we are willing to give anyone a full refund that does not want the calendar at this point. We are not forcing anyone to buy it nor are we trying to cheat anyone here. It's just a bunch of bad luck that can be pointed at many things. All we can do is apologize at this point and say that things will be different if another one is ever done. Most artists in the calendar received two pages, so this should make up for anyone that had a page early in the year.

Again, we sincerely apologize. We feel horrible and wish there was something more that we could do. They have been mailed out and you should be seeing them in your mailboxes very soon.
