This site is crawling.

If it went any slower,....

It's taking me minutes to go from one board to another or one topic to another. I tried visiting someone's portfolio, and had lunch waiting for it to load. Seriously!! It took 5 1/2 minutes to get this page to load and the 1/2 minute was for typing this.

I don't think it's my computer. It's brand new, free of debri, and lightning quick anywhere else on the web. What's going on??

Got bandwidth?

Renate Dartois 15 Feb 2005

same problem here-everything else goes very fast-the last two days have been especially slow.

Pete Miller 15 Feb 2005

That's funny..... for once I'm zippin' around here like crazy. Had problems over weekend but today and tonight it's been fine.

I'm with Joan....slooooow over the weekend, fine yesterday and today.

Drank a whole glass of champagne before I got from one message board to the next a little while ago.

Thanks for the note. We are looking to what might be causing this slow down on the site.

Thanks Oz and everyone else! This past weekend was nano-second slow. Today was rediculous. I hope you figure it out. I'm with Patrick on this. Bandwidth! It can only get worse as more images are loaded. Also, how about all the images posted on the boards that don't really mean anything to anyone? I know I've posted some 'doozies' that were rather large files. Get rid of them. Maybe even cut down(limit) the file size on board posts except art critiques? I'm just trying to throw out a few possibilities...

(Joan, I'll have to call you "Zippy" from now on. LOL.)

Log out and see if it speeds up. I bet it will...

Andrew Liberto 16 Feb 2005

Denny, I tried that a few times. It didn't help. Today seems to be back to normal though. Maybe it's just during high traffic periods on the site.

Okay, here's the info from a professional software developer I know.

"The website platform is written in Cold Fusion. Cold fusion as a SERVER requires a tremendous amount of CPU processing. If the computer (server) does not have enough CPU power to support the high number of users, the site must be set up in a cluster (many servers) or at the least, improve the performance of the server (multiple CPU's and lots of RAM)

Just an observation without knowing the whole setup of the servers and the bandwith for their internet connection (hosting). Without knowing how much bandwidth that they are using and what kind of servers that they have...it could be a multitude of things."

So - I thought I'd share that with you folks. Interesting what you can find out when you "view source". If other sites load fast, then it's probably not your computer.

And now not even with 800 Kbps I can call some pic, all slowed down, nothing more. Other sites are fast its only in AW. Other members comment: I just had the same problem so it's not just you..... Other members write to me:

Having some trouble uploading to the site.

Whats going on ?

Webshots: 155,217,540 photos (726,094 new in 24 hours) AND IS WORKING OK.

Yes, it's bad today but I'm having trouble all over, Peter. I can't even get to my MSN Hotmail account. The MSN server is too busy, too. Welcome to the weekend. It's only going to get worse.
