it doesn't stop me from rating the way I feel. I certainly do not low ball. but I do rate work that is not worthy of a ten

Stan,

This young "lady" hit me with one of her ratings last night. I have just deleted it and life goes on. The world hasn't ended....if it happens again, I would just take the image off and put it into another site.

I just want to say that, if she is old enough to come on the site and rate, then she has to take the responsibility that comes along with that as well as any repercussions....it's called "growing up" lol!

Bonnie, I say this with kindness, :) : Your bio says that you "love art" however you left a rude comment and low rating on one of Susan Epp's pieces. Susan works in abstracts and I have trouble understanding how you've never been exposed to or seen abstract before, if you love art. You don't have to like it but your comment of "what's this" seemed a little bit rude and the piece was certainly not deserving of the low rating you gave it.

In AW's words "think before you hit send."

Joan....thank you so very much for your comment.

Bonnie...please don't think you have made an enemy of me and you will never receive a rude mail from me. I just ask that you remember one thing...many artists on this site, including myself, are trying to earn a living from art and use our AW portfolios as a showcase to potential customers. Careless comments don't help our efforts.Constructive comments help us to improve!

I hope you carry on with your art and wish you success!

Hey Bonnie, I've had a similar problem to the one you had and I got to the conclusion that I will only rate the pieces I think are almost perfect and I really like. I wouldn't worry too much, I think art is a very subjective subject (mmmm...) and it is quite hard to rate a digital image of a painting, say, coz it looses a lot of quality and so on. Just keep doing good work!!!;o?

Some agnst ridden 16 year old girl with grade school artwork low-balled me. One has to consider the souce, level of knowledge of self, yet alone the world of art. Doubt that she has an inkling of Chinese Brush Painting. Who knows she may end up famous some day. I skip over any work that that I can't honestly give an 8-10 to. We artists have fragile egos.

Whoops, sorry - I thought the image would give me a little box picture up in the left like I see on other e-mails. This one is not what I was referring to in my previous e-mail.
