Announcing Pinterest Site Integration

Pinterest.com is a fairly new social media site that is growing like crazy. The basic concept is that you "pin" things that you find on the Internet that you like and want to share with others. It's a very visual site that is perfect for artists and photographers to get ideas from and to share their art/photos with others. If you are not familiar with Pinterest.com, you soon will be.

ArtWanted.com is happy to announce that we have added Pinterest as one of our main social media sites that we are integrated with.

What does this mean? Let us tell you...

1) As you upload artwork/photos to ArtWanted.com, you can now click on the new "Pinterest Icon" to quickly pin/share your art with your friends that follow you on Pinterest.

2) Other people that are surfing ArtWanted.com can also "pin" your artwork in the same way, which will promote your art to new audience and all images link back to your ArtWanted.com portfolio.

3) If you have Pinterest account, you can add this account to your "Social Media Settings" page, which will create a new "Follow Me on Pinterest" button on your main portfolio page.

These new Pinterest options will help make it easier to share your art to your Pinterest friends and promote your talent to a whole new audience. Enjoy!

PS - If you do not want these "Sharing" options available on your portfolio, you can select the option to hide social media sharing in your Member Preferences.

I know that there are many people using Pinterest and seem to be happy about it. Here are two links with interesting info:

I have 2 questions:

- Would it be possible that we get an option to disable or choose what buttons are next to our pictures?

- I just saw the button with the blue and black square, I wondered what it is?

You will be pleased to know that Pinterest is not making any money off of any affiliate links from ArtWanted.com as described in these articles. We do not have a partnership with them or any type of affiliate referral relationship.

At this time, we don't have individual options for each website to turn them on/off. Only the whole group of social sharing options can be turned off for now.

The blue/black square is a link to the popular social bookmarking site delicious.com (if you have an account with their site)

I'm a bit worried about Pinterest, because when I googled it together with my name, I found that somebody had 'pinned' me with a picture from FineArtAmerica and I didn't like the fact that the picture was quite large and I had no idea who the pin-person is. I wondered how safe Pinterest is.

I'm not sure yet whether I want my pictures pinned all over cyberspace by people I don't know. I like it that you have no partnership with them.

Well, I'm afraid there's not much I can do. I don't want to leave my pictures in the shed either where nobody would seen them! :)))

Pinterest is a unique website concept, but it's "pin" feature is just like Facebook, where anyone can share something they find interesting on the Internet to a Facebook wall.

Pinterest always links back to the original website with the content, just like Facebook does, so you will benefit from some hits and exposure through Pinterest and anyone viewing the images will know who created them.

But you are right, part of being an successful artist, is getting your art to be seen by as many eyeballs as possible. Having all your art locked in a closet will not benefit anyone. Pinterest is one more way to share and gain exposure to your talent.
