Is the Male form Art?

I've always thought it was so I painted and posted today. Do you think male form art is marketable? http://www.artwanted.com/imageview.cfm?id=894442

It's been a long time since I've been on the boards is anyone still hanging around that I use to talk to?

the boards are pretty dead. in answer to your question, i would say this piece should meet with great success.....afterall, you have the hetereo women and gay populations drooling!! all the best,

Hi Clare........ I'm still around, but have been out of town, etc.

Nice work. I love painting the male figure but haven't done so in some time. Would love to get back to that.

When I saw that yesterday, the first thing I thought was Patrick Swayze from the movie RoadHouse, during one of the final fight scenes

Clare,

How dare you ask such a thing?! LOL...of course the male figure is art! Your rendition is superb!! The water and physique definitely puts it in the top 3 of your posted work! If tastefully and gracefully done it can convey the masculine beauty and strength of a man. I think the male figure is overlooked due to our bias feminine beauty in society. Since men are considered handsome and women pretty, may be that has something to do with it. I personally love them both...but, since I am a man and love God's most beautiful gift...I tend to paint more women...but I have men items to!

Thanks to all of you for discussing this and sorry for taking so long- to reply. It use to be easier to reply sad state of affairs when report the reply becomes more important that reply to the reply..

I remember when the boards were on fire and full of passion- this topic would have generated much more- that's all right :)

Maybe I should have posted him here - so here goes....Have a great day all~

so what happened to the boards? things are crazy busy at other websites....was there any one particular incident that drove people away? inquiring minds want to know....

Well the debates were intense and varied and some gentle people complained.. instead of just going to another topic.. it was a lot of name calling and not pretty... I enjoyed the debate - artists are passionate people once their voice was censored it lost it's fire...
