Hinsel, I looked at this one a few times. As usual my opinion on a particular work of art is entirely subjective.

Something intrigues me about it, but something puzzles me as to exactly what kind of response I'm having towards it.

The colors to me are marvelous, (black and deep red being my personal favorites), and your color choices offer drama, tension and impact.

The textures are great, there's a lovely "tactility" for lack of better word to they hydrant that is appealing to me.

The text works well with the imagery and is nice and crisp. I really like the gold leaf highlights in it.

Obviously the image appeals to me enough to cause me to keep coming back to look at but can't quite seem to reconcile it as a whole composition despite it's complimenting thematic elements.

Don't know what it is exactly that's confusing me, could be just my current perspective (a distinct possibility).

thanks for the insight kari ! i like it too...but am almost unsure of liking it. the colors and all like you say are a big draw but i think what just throws me off is the fact its a fire hydrant. hehe! even i dont understand my own art!!
