Since I think the thread Pete Miller started, simply "vanished", I want to repeat something I wrote there.

This isn't spam. Please believe it. I simply want to let my friends know the new artworks I'm creating in freedom. I'll feel myself honored if you'll write in my guestbook there.

My new gallery: www.artmajeur.com/salas.

Thank you. That's all, folks!

Hi Gracie :)

I'm afraid I don't see any point in staying.

You may not get the reference to Facebook.....I posted a thread to suggest that those of us who find it hard to keep in touch on these boards might find that site an easy way of reaching our friends. It's not an art site, no threat to AW in any way and it was my intention, if enough people were interested, to set up an AW group there which would have sent a lot of traffic back here.

BUT AW perceived it as a threat, I guess, and pulled it.

Only what, 3 or 4 posts back, I was bending over backwards to try to keep this community together, as I have done for some time now but nothing is appreciated.

I'm not leaving completely, Gracie, but I've asked to downgrade to a free membership because at least then I won't be paying to be upset lol. Mail me any time you feel like it......but my days of posting on here are done.

Take care....you're a very sweet person :)

PS...they will probably pull this too lol

PPS... Pete's thread gone too ? That just tells me that I made the right decision. So sorry, Pete and again, Armando.

Well I think that is the way Aw wants it they made it clear with their actions we just move on to other things other forums facebooks are great. Daisy your house with all the art-work looks great very inviting-take care...Renate.

Pat 'Gracie' Merewether 18 Jun 2007

Guess I missed it - cuz = what's a face book?

You guys know I'm slow to catch on - but it's now quite evident that AW want's all of the people who frequented and enjoyed the GDB gone.

I too downgraded to a free membership - but now I'm looking for another site to move my work to. I've never sold anything here and the stuff I ordered was late or never came at all - so why stay? The people (good, bad and even the ugly) were what's kept me here.

Now I wish they had just cancelled 'our' memberships if they wanted us to leave that bad - it would have been kinder and most of us who stayed would not have spent so much time and energy trying to keep the boards alive.

I'm sure this post will be gone fast too.

I was active on the message boards in general discussion when I first joined this site but over time the general conflict was just too much to bother with. What I can't believe is that members are actually basing a decision to stop using an ART site over lack of a general discussion board.

My view on the general discussion board - leave it out or keep it - either way I'm here for the art, not the conversation.

Ann Lopez13 18 Jun 2007

now that is the most sensible thing i have heard since i arrived. Welcome and thank you for stating your opinion. there are many of us that appreciate a sound opinion. it may not be what some want to hear but at least now a certain group will understand that there are others that are here for just that the art.i really don't mind the conversation but sometimes if you state your opinion you'll be met with the wrath and i'll probably get that for even posting an agreement with you. there are some here that don't want to hear about their beloved gd board being gone. like you and others i pretty much like it here for all the variety of art. enough said night all.

by the way maggie great art love the intesity and design ! Annie

ArtWanted.com Staff 18 Jun 2007

Great point Maggie, we don't quite understand it either sometimes.

Also, to clarify a few of the previous posts. We have no problems with Facebook, nor do we view it as a threat to AW in any way. The reason why that thread, and several others are being pulled, is because they are off topic and have nothing to do with ArtWanted.com or art, which are the new message board rules.

Topics about Facebook, Youtube, Ebay, the San Diego Zoo, your trip to Chicago, a funny joke you heard and your grandma's famous cookies will be more than welcome if the General Discussion board comes back, but until then, any post that is off topic will be removed for the simple reason that it is not following the guidelines.

We are not trying to kick anyone off, or upset anyone, we are just trying to uphold the rules of the boards as we have done since they started. As long as topics meet the guidelines of the forums, then there will never be a problem or a thread deleted by our staff.

Pat 'Gracie' Merewether 18 Jun 2007

AW = I guess you just don't get it and never will. There are hundreds of art sites - but this is the only one where many of us felt a sense of community and friendship. That's what made it different and more appealing. Others are just art, they're much alike. AW's GDB and the friendships and family feeling are what set you apart - that's why many of us don't see a reason to stick around if you pull it. sales and services are just as good or better elsewhere.

It's reallly sad that you are sending many of your most loyal members the message that this is no longer the 'special' art site we felt it was. You're also sending us the message that we aren't wanted, needed or appreciated.

ZAZ 19 Jun 2007

I understand you are pulling threads that are off topic because you are enforcing the rules.

Mabe if had you pulled the topics that were becomming heated from the general discussion board instead of letting the rules be broken over and over, that to would have sent a message also and there may still have been a GD board

I did my best not to get involved in wars, because i did not wish to be a rule breaker or be a part of the never ending mess that the staff let go on,perhaps the report button was broken i am really not sure.

I did love the good topics that were there and looked foward to them.

The board did give a sence of community/family and even in reality there can be conflict, it is just a fact of life.

None had to look at the GD boards if they did not want to or if they did not like it, yet many seem to say they did and did not like them ,so they should just be gone because they think so.

I believe many joined this site with nothing but art in mind but ended up finding some new friends and that was a plus to many on this site, in a scense when they were seperated from them when the GD area was closed.

Many people are left with a feeling of emptiness, because thay can no longer share the day to day things that are going on in their lives as they had.

It is understandable,

yesterday you found something wonderful and today it is taken away because rules were not followed by some and were not enforced by the ones that set them in place.

OK heres my art,

While the rose withers in the darkness someone cries for the door to open.

Can there be something besides a brick wall beyond the door?

Where does the light come from?

To all my AW friends,

A Big hug!

PAT: "You're also sending us the message that we aren't wanted, needed or appreciated."

Pat, as we have said many times, we understand that the GD boards were used by many to make friends and share daily experiences. We created the GD boards for this very reason. However, the rules were ignored and it has been closed because of it.

We very much apprecaite all those that participated in the GD boards and this is not the message we are trying to send in any way. The only message we are trying to send at this time, is that topics that don't meet our guidelines will be removed and that the GD boards were abused by those that used them, and because of that, they were closed.

I'll refuge myself in the Sketch Pad. Meanwhile... will you be my mom? I'm alone...

ashok nayak 19 Jun 2007

A lot of things are being clear now and many of active board members has expressed their vews on GDB,Please try to make a final dicission as soon as possible. And yes,if you need any more analysis or observations or vews ,so please mention it specificaly. We just want to come out from this sad forum activities. You know Artists are well capable of handelling all,yes all...

Leigh Karchner 19 Jun 2007

What I find most incredible here are those who show up to post about how "horrible the message boards are," "how they don't like the GDB in particular and it should be gone, glad it's gone," and go on-and-on about how they are here "just for the art" and yet those are always the same few who show up to look down their noses at everyone else who does like the GDB and other forums...... and where is their art??? Meeting the 3-image minimun doesn't make anyone here an artist!! Seems to me they only hang around to make condescending posts and do the very thing they claim to hate about this place?? I as much as anyone hated the fights and downright vile stuff that was posted but that didn't take away from all the good stuff that went on. If I didn't like someone or didn't like the topic, I just didn't read it..... why bother?? No one is forcing anyone here to read anything they don't want to.... it's common sense.

AW, it seems that honesty expressed here is taboo (from all the posts that have been pulled about AW specifically) and you only wish for members to "post like nice little girls and boys." We aren't children and those who have insisted on acting like children in the past should have been dealt with a long time ago...... by YOU!! You are now cutting off your own noses to spite yourselves because of your own LACK OF CONCERN AND ACTION a long time ago!! You can delete posts, slaps hands and try to manipulate any/all of us but you won't change how any of us feel by treating us all like children. Where were you for the many, many months that harassment, personal attacks and such went on for days, weeks, even months??? Where were you when feelings were hurt, members left in anger because nothing was done..... what now about the certain members who were allowed to do as they please unending and you turned a blind eye?? Your rules were in place then too..... seems like a bit of overkill now, don't you think? Maybe if you had taken notice and did as many of us suggested then, you wouldn't have these issues now..... in your mentality, "spare the rod, spoil the child" seems to fit here???

Go ahead, slap my hands again. Confirm what others already suspect here and tell your most loyal members who have seen this site through the worst and the best that we can't be human any longer..... make it all about art only???? That's not logical in any artistic community and you know it. Ban me if you must but it won't change the facts!!

Armando Salas 19 Jun 2007

Just to the point, Leigh.

Peter Beard 19 Jun 2007

It seems a fact of life that the lobbying minority get to have what they want over the silent majority. It would be nice if the majority got to win for once.

ashok nayak 19 Jun 2007

It's not a matter that who'll win or who'll lose,it's about freedom,it's about art.Art never exists within any limitation,it's beyond.hehe yes, anybody can claim as an artist, but will have to recognize too.
