I have noticed in the past that you only accept MasterCard and Visa. Whether or not I sell prints on your site will depend partly on whether or not you will expand this to include American Express (and also, hopefully, Discover). First of all, the contracts with both MasterCard and Visa contain fraudulent provisions, so I want people who are aware of this to have an alternative. Also, the only card I have is American Express, and it would be nice to be able to buy copies of my own prints.

Greg - here are some answers to your questions...

* We will use a variety of different printers and equipment for our print program, depending on the size and product ordered. Additional specs will be given once the program gets launched.

* We are not sure what specific safeguards you are asking about, please explain what you are looking for.

* As for the success of the program, time will only tell. We can't predict the future, but we do have great expectations. We also have many ideas how to promote this new program and as it launches, we will see which ideas turn into a reality.

* We also plan to start accepting American Express and Discover cards within the next few months.

Please post any other questions we may have overlooked, thanks.

This sounds like a wonderful adventure, although being Canadian, it seems a bit tougher to get things done right. I LOVED the book, and managed to get my page in it, but the packing wasn't the greatest, as some of the corners were a bit damaged. Not a biggy, I kept that one! But my calanders I ordered didn't come until well after January 1st, and I only recieved one, not the two I had ordered!! I was told I would get a credit for the other calendar but I'm pretty sure I haven't recieved it, or at least told about it. I am a bit aprehensive, but willing to give it a shot. I sincerely hope this works for everyone!!

4 colour offset or giclee?

Michael Germann 26 Jul 2005

I am very pleased to see this service here on artwanted. Am looking forward to seeing the results

RE: 4 colour offset or giclee?

Actually neither. This is a high quality photo print like you would find at a professional photo lab.

4 color offset only makes sense if you are printing hundreds or thousands of the same print. Giclees look great, but also cost a ton of money to produce, especially just for one print at a time. We will be offering the best type of product for our 'print on demand' service.

We will be offering a 'sample pack' next week that you can purchase for a very small fee, so you can see the type of quality and paper you can expect with our print program. However, the best way to see a sample is to order a print of your own work once the program starts.

Would you add a line to your Print Program Agreement number 4 Artist Commission. Will you add the line from the 7/8/05 Announcement ArtWated.com Print Program, If you set the retail price to be at least double our suggested amount, ArtWanted.com will lower our commissions to a 75/25 split.

It would just look better if it was stated in the final agreement.

Thanks

Yes, this part will be added to the final agreement before people start signing it.

Nice move AW!

Prints have been very good to me over the past 3 years.

Some of my collectors haven't always been able to afford my new pieces but with prints they can own a more affordable version.

I agree with Joe Bartz as too am i a free member but feel excluded from an interesting idea !

k r 30 Jul 2005

I to am only a free member, and yes I have heard alot of bad things about AW, but I must confess the idea is a good one, but there are others out there that provide a service just as good, like deviantart.com, and I dont have to be a premium member either, we free members bring alot of people to your site, I have had over a thousand hits in just over three months, I also get alot of mail from veiwers who love my art, so why should I become a premium member at a cost and then still have to pay for my own prints as well, I agree with the base price, you have to recover your cost, but another 50% on top is a little hard to swallow, I will see how things go first, after all this isn't the first time I done busness for prints!

I hope you live upto your promises, I would like first to see how things go in the next couple of months, but being a premium member is a little hard for me to swallow, all the best (www.falconian.com) hope it all goes well.

Thanks for your honest feedback. We are curious about "alot of bad things about AW" comment, and would like you to e-mail us on the things you are hearing.

We are aware that there are other sites that offer print services, this is not a new concept. DeviantArt does offer a print program, but it's $25 to join it, they pay you less frequently then we do and they have higher commissions. CafePress also offers prints, but their prices are much higher too, and you have to setup each product individually, which takes a ton of time. We feel that we will have the best print program on the market for artists.

As for the commissions, the base price of the prints does not even come close to pay all of the expenses associated with the program. There are many other expenses that can't be covered in the base price, and this is why there is a commission structure built into the program.

As you suggest, we invite you to sit back and see how things go. If things are going well for other artists, then we hope you can join it. We think that the small $5 fee for Premium membership, which includes the print program is a very fair price for all that is included with the ArtWanted.com membership.
