It's been cool the last few days ,a welcomed change...76 degrees , Then around 2:00 or there about today we had an earthquake.. A bit confusing as to the source of the shaking of the building until we realized We were actually having an earthquake. this old building was shaking pretty good.

RQ Trietsch 24 Aug 2011

Don't ya just love those shakers?

We normally get amused with what the news makes a big deal out of 3 or 4 pointer here. 5+ is worth reporting, but I've experienced a 7.2 a few years back. Now that was a shaker!

Repeat weather for today, but the arsonists are starting to crawl out of their holes lately.

It has come to Europoe at last. Temps late 30's.

We went on a city break thinking it would remain cold and wet but it didn't. Oh well.

RQ Trietsch 25 Aug 2011

99+ for today.

Saw some of the damage from the earthquake back there. I know earthquakes aren't common but if those building were built like ours are today it wouldn't have created as much damage. I can only image someone experiencing a quake for the first time.

100 and a chance of rain

Martha Miller 26 Aug 2011

It has been cool and nice temps so far...... but we are told to expect some very harsh weather over the weekend once that hurricane hits New York shores on it's was to Boston. The temp today held at 73 degrees

Cindy Schnackel 26 Aug 2011

No earthquakes here in Arizona lately, glad the ones in Colorado and Virginia were not bad. We occasionally are able to feel tremors of quakes in S. Calif. but not lately. I am sure there's no place that's immune from them. No hurricanes either but we might get some dust again! It has been over 110 all week, over 115 some days, with only the hint that we might go below 110, maybe 109 or so, in a few days. Whoopie.

Here in Upstate NY the temps have been holding between 63 and 73 degrees. Nice cool weather, That is all suppose to change tomorrow when the hurricane hits land. I read it has come ashore in NC. just a matter of time before it gets here. i'm going to go shopping and forget about it for a tad. enjoy your weekend ......

Made 104 here yesterday, hotter down below. Today's forecast, 102-104 with a chance of thunder storms later.

RQ Trietsch 28 Aug 2011

Same as yesterday. This morning at 5 a.m. it's already 79 and very muggy. Omitting helping the wife with some canning today, it's going to be another very stay inside, boring day.

Martha Miller 28 Aug 2011

My goodness how do you stand that heat........R.Q Well it looks like Irene is Petering out. All we are going to get is rain and a little wind.. Temp today is 64 Here at 8:55 a.m.

RQ Trietsch 29 Aug 2011

I use to be use to it. But not working much has pretty much kept me inside.

99-101 forecasted

Heres hoping you get some relief soon. . I don't think i could ever get used to that. It's only 61 degrees here today. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day .It is a little overcast but i don't think anything will come of it. Just the remnants of Irene. Enjoy your day all. Hugs

How DO we deal with the heat? I dunno! Apparently just because we have little choice. Yesterday it was around 105 and humid here, and we were out delivering paintings to a gallery, getting groceries, etc. My husband returned the van we rented to haul my large paintings, and he took the bus. With transfers where he had to stand in the heat and wait. I felt so bad for him and was going to along just so he had someone to suffer along with, but he liked the idea of me going to the grocery store better, so we'd have something to eat. So I went with my small personal cart like old ladies have, and walked to the store in the heat of the day. We got home about the same time, and after cooling off we just kind of collapsed on the floor in front of the TV and became vegetative. Lots of ice water, and me hugging my giant cold packs, the kind that are filled with a gel that you keep in the freezer. My BFF's, the ice packs.

I just feel so very sorry for all that have to live in such heat. I know that i could not. It has stayed in the high 60's today.. beautiful day..

I use to be a "River Rat" that use to hang-out at the Colorado River. We had a trailer, boat and wave runners down there and it was our get away place anytime of the year. Summer time was usually 110+, but you got accustomed to it. Well a slight cooling spell until the weekend. 95-97 and breezy. At least minimum humidity.

RQ Trietsch 31 Aug 2011

Another day or two of our cooling trend. 92 forecasted for today

Cindy Schnackel 31 Aug 2011

I think it was 112 yesterday. We just keep having days on end of this, with maybe a prediction to "cool off to 109" in a few days, but so far the predictions seem inaccurate. The air quality is also very bad, high ozone and dust. Your lungs just feel bad from it. This is so different from the summers I remember as a teenager in the 70s, when we'd have more frequent thunderstorms, and it'd cool off to the 70s afterwards at night. The days could certainly get to 110 or more but usually was less, and the heat waves didn't get so severe or last so long, nor was the air this bad.

Martha Miller 01 Sep 2011

Oh my goodness, you poor dears. I don't know how you and RQ stand it. The temp is 62 this morning.I think it's safe to say we are out of the hot weather here. The leaves are starting to turn ,,,,getting ready for the Autumn display here in the East.

RQ Trietsch 01 Sep 2011

That's the bad thing about "So Cal" is the bad air/smog. Summer time is really hangs around.

90 or 94 for today, conflicting reports again.
