Just me, but I love the grey background, clean and formal. I had actually downloaded a grey background for my portfolio but it never looked right. It looks a lot better now that it is done correctly.

Thanks for the changes!

Jane McIlroy 15 Jul 2008

Very disappointing - everything is still centred down the middle in Firefox 2, which makes the site too uncomfortable to use at the moment.

AW STAFF: Jane, this is not a bug - the site was designed to be centered in the middle of your browser with the content in the middle. This is a popular design style being done by many websites, including apple.com

Well, it seems the typing can be seen now, which is GOOD... Yet, my suggestion is to try make the fonts just a bit bigger, perhaps less space between one comments to another. To design better the spaces of the comments. Please take a good look how it looks at other ART Site, for inspiration. I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT, As it is part of OUR everyday's life. IT'S IMPORTANT TO DESIGN WELL, THE LOOK OF THE COMMENTS.

The background must be solved also.. it's TOO STRONG... TOO STONG. IT MUST BE A CHOICE.

THE NEW BUTTONS ARE WONDERFUL...i mean those blue buttons of the portfolio.... Although some of the symbols drawings could be smaller, {or none } to make it less busy on the eyes.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE EFFORTS, YOU ARE DOING.

I HATE THE GREY BACKGROUND...

Great job, AW! The look and feel of the site is just awesome! I have found one bug so far: my images are uploaded too small for print and I do not want to sell them here. However I can click all the way to the checkout. Maybe it would be better if you cannot navigate to the print area if an image is not for sale? Thanks and keep up the great work, 10+ for the job! Anne

I like the feel of the NEW site so far. Great job. Look forward to being here at this site.

these are great changes and everything, but premium membership in which I purchased at the beginning of this year, doesn't seem to matter very much anymore. What do we premium members get other than our printed products? from what I understood, I paid for the premium membership so I could upload as much as I want. Now freebies can upload up to 50 images a year!? (Dozens of images in a single day!?) Now premium members won't hardly get their work seen at all. Not like before anyway. Good thing you've added groups, otherwise this might suck quite a bit. Good luck, I'm done.

AW Staff: TD, there are over a dozens upgrades that Premium Members receive. Here is a link that lists all of the upgrades you get as a Premium Member: http://www.artwanted.com/ps/join/premium.cfm

T.D

There is still stuff like arrangements and sub galleries, I don't know if other people are having the same problem but right now I'm finding they don't look right.

joan warburton 16 Jul 2008

Thank you for fixing the font size! :)

AW, Item # 15 on the list of changes says,

"Inside your members area, you can now see a list of all the members that have added you to their ArtWatch list."

This feature does not work when you click on the "view the names" link.

This is what I see after I click on the link.

AW STAFF: Thanks for the note, we have fixed this link to display the names. Also, what browser/OS are you running. Your screen shot looks nothing like what the website should be displaying.

Dear AW, Andy I know you made a lot of efforts to improve the site, in many ways, ans I thank you for that. YET... As you know, I STILL Have my disagreements, about specially MAIN 2 Subjects. I see myself as an everyday user of this site, and as I wrote few times... I wish to see AW, As my main HOME VIRTUAL GALLERY ON INTERNET... And I have FEW. YET... These 2 BASIC disagreements, i HAVE WITH THE "new look" prevent me NOW, to enjoy it, as I used to, SORRY.. BUT IT IS A FACT ! I will explain again, in different way perhaps. First the GREY BACKGROUND... It is HUGE Contrast with the so WHITE AND CLEAN. The WHITE, Is excellent. As a user who use alot of hours everyday the services of the site, I find this HUGE CONTRAST, Not friendly to the eyes, TOO STRONG. What it actually does, BUT NOT ALL UNDERSTAND IT... This HUGE CONTRASTS.. Is as itself a "show of an image " - it takes the attention from the image to the background... YES, THE CONTRAST BETWEEN GREY WHITE, IS TOO BUSY... IT seems the eyes look there more to the MAIN Part. THE MAIN PART SHOULD BE, OUR IMAGES, REPRESENT IN AS CLEAN WAY AS CAN BE ON THE WHITE IT IS GOOD... YET NO NEED TO GREY, ESPECIALLY AS DARK AS IT IS. SECOND MAIN IMPORTANT HERE IS THE COMMENTS. As it designed now.. it can be read, YET... I would prefer just a bit a bigger font. THE MAIN SUBJECT, IS THE IMAGE AND THE COMMENT. UNDERSTAND... ?... ITS THE MAIN. NOT ALL THE MEMBERS OF AW, UNFORTUNATELY UNDERSTAND THIS, BUT AS A DESIGNER, I'M TELLING YOU... THE DESIGN OF COLOUR IS VERY IMPORTANT..THE ONE WHO DESIGN FOR YOU MUST UNDERSTAND.. THE SHOW IS THE IMAGE, AND THE COMMENTS OF THE ARTIST.. NOT THE SHOW OF THE BACKGROUND, AS IT IS NOW...THERE IS SOME KIND OF A COMPETITION BETWEEN THE BACKGROUNDS GREY - WHITE, TO THE IMAGE AND COMMENTS.. I hope I am understood.. I speak from a very professional point of view of a designer. The comments must be just a bit bigger, like HERE, In forums.. why here, the FONTS ARE SO BEAUTIFULLY DONE, And in our portfolio, is SO TINY.... WHY ?. I wish to know, DOERS THE NOTES OF MASSAGE BORDS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THEN THE WRITTEN COMMENTS, OR REPLIES. Personally.. my MAIN STAY Here in AW, is MY PORTFOLIO... My images, and my comments and replies... In these tiny NEW FONTS.. I don't feel like reading it even...SO SORRY TO SAY SO, Also... looking at my "NEW LOOK Of the portfolio, I SEE GREY-WHITE, Which I titally don't like, it does not represent ME, Nira Dabush... and it make competition with my ART, Which supposed to be the MAIN ISSUEin my portfolio, represented VERY FINE, In a much soft use of backgrounds. AGAIN... I would prefer to choose my own colours of background.. IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE NOW... You must change this GREY.. ITS NOT GOOD.. It's not a matter of taste, but a matter of understanding what design is, especially for this purpose. You can instead of this grey, choose very pale Blue, or very pale green, almost as white. As it is look now... and I only talked about the VERY BASE Here... I don't feel like opening my portfolio. Before the "new look" I found the choice of colour in AW, THE MOST FRIENDLY, From other art sites that i know. it's important... NOT TOO BUSY DESIGN..LESS DESIGN, BUT CLEVER ONE... THANKS SO VERY MUCH, FOR READING... EVEN THANKS MORE FOR THE UNDERSTANDING... AND EVEN MORE, FOR TRYING TO DO REALLY THE BEST.

AW STAFF: Thanks for your comments/feedback. As we were going through early mockups of our new site, we went through dozens of possible color options for the new site. This is the design/colors that our staff preferred and we will probably stick with it for a while. Most of the feedback over the new design has been very positive and we know we can not make every person happy. However, the more feedback we get will ultimatly decide if the colors/background changes in the near future. We will also considers your suggestions about the comments.

A note to Jane, if you are using Firefox 2 you might want to upgrade to Firefox 3 as this is the version I use and it all looks fine now. Um, as far as I know I can't post links but I am sure you can find it if you google it or on your bookmarks. It's always recommended to have the latest version anyway. :)

Terry Bullard 16 Jul 2008

Love the changes - great job!

Cassie Norwood 16 Jul 2008

I upgraded to Firefox 3.0 and still having layout issues on portfolio, AW see page 4 for screen shot.

AW STAFF: This is actually not a FireFox issue, but a layout issue with the current portfolio pages and the specific sub-gallery layout you have selected. As we mentioned before, we are working on new layouts for the portfolio pages that will replace the ones we currently have, which will fix this issue. Until this is done, you may want to consider using an alternate layout choice that does not push your images off the page. Thanks.

My viewpoint:

1.- About the NEW AW, I find more MAKE UP than REAL IMPROVEMENTS.

2.- TOP TEN. It was a good idea to suppress it. I know it's a very difficult subject but I also think you didn't work enough to develop an ALTERNATIVE method to guarantee the suitable exposure to the artists who deserve it. After all, the exposure hasn't the same importance for a professional or an amateur.

3.- Management of comments given to another artists. You only can surf by clicking "Next" or "Previous"; 25 images each time. Please place the page numbers on the bottom, the same way as in the comments received from another artists.

4.- The grey is an UGLY color. No doubt about the necessary change.

5.-- Font used for comments/replies: TINY. I'm almost blind!

6.- Icons. Some of them are excessively large.

7.- Management of favorite images. You can see the images by placing the mouse over the title, BUT... when you do a scroll no chance to see the images because the image window doesn't scroll at the same time.

8.- I don't like the image info below it. I would prefer the old way (on the left side)

I'll check more and let you know my opinion.

AW STAFF: Thanks for your feedback Armando. We will take these suggestions/comments under consideration.

I love the new AW esp. the "glass-look" icons. I plan to tell lots of artists about AW this weekend at my ATC workshop in Lewisville, TX!

Bryan Wilson 16 Jul 2008

The site rocks you guys!

Cassie Norwood 16 Jul 2008

Sorry that I missed that, thanks. I hope it's not too long, that one was my favorite :)

Anne Vis 16 Jul 2008

I found a minor bug in the comments section, where the text runs off the white background and is hardly visible in the grey. (see attachment) Love the groups! :-)

AW STAFF: Thanks for the screen shot, we will be sure to correct this formatting issue today.

Armando Salas 16 Jul 2008

Sorry, AW Staff!

Looks like I only wrote negative comments. This wasn't my intention; I simply tried to IMPROVE few things that need it, but I totally FORGOT to say thank you for your effort. Of course, there are some very good improvements: layout (it needs few corrections), the feature to add photos to blog, management of comments, etc.

Good work. Hard work. You only have to correct few details as most of people demand.

Thank you.
