Greg that is my biggest issue with the site, Thank You for bringing it up. That is in my mind an even bigger issue than the discussion boards and all the rest. Self promotion can only go so far. This site is first and formost a promotional tool, at least that is the theory behind it. I hate to make waves or be one of the "negative" posters but I am a college freshman so money is tight and this is the best my money can buy, it would be nice to make at least one sale from it, and I have my page listed on serveral other websites. I know theres a limit to how much AW can do but I know the first time I saw it I thought it was just another website formum discussing art, not a website with art for sale or anything. What about adding a section just for art that is for sale, I don't know about you guys but I'm lazy; if I have to click on a bunch of links to find what I am looking for I will just go onto another website that has all their stuff right there up in front.

Just My two cents.

AW is in my site too. in spite of everything. as others too. you have to make a team not a distance.

I would like to see it turn more into a sales site as it suggests. I know I used to receive quite a bit of commission works through AW, but that stopped about a year ago.

Although, I do think it would be hard pressed for any serious art buyer to take this site seriously when you have great pieces of artwork for sale next to juvenile sketches on notebook paper done in study hall. Same thing with photography, you have fine art photography being shown with shapshots of pets and people that you would find more common on people's Myspace pages.

Speaking as a self-professed professional shopper, that is like shopping at Wal-Mart for art, not a gallery. AW is just another place to promote yourself as an artist to gain exposure in the search engines imo. But then again, I truly feel the best way to sale artwork is to do it through exhibitions and galleries in real life.

I think the problem online, that I see with any site, is that buyers are complaining of poor quality in prints and the actual artwork looking nothing like it does online with the help of many artists retouching artworks up on the pc. I have seen many articles on this disturbing trend. I never expect anything when it comes to selling artwork online, which happens, but I do expect quite a bit when selling in shows or exhibitions in real life through experience. I think AW can only promise so much faced with this reality.
