I want to know were my "hits "are coming from. Is the self promoting working or is in mainly member to memeber traffic. Can AW set up a traffic report broken down with member- non member traffic. Its something to consider, I spent time away from my art promoting it. If I cant see it working its a wash for me.

A: Over the next few months, we will be creating additional statistics reports that will give our members more details on 'where' the hits are coming from. We do have our 'referral' report for premium members that shows which websites are brining you traffic, but it does not show internal traffic at this time.

IN THE DISCUSSION AREAS, THE SECOND ONE DOWN , ARTWANTED.COM....IS THIS THE NEW "GENERAL DISCUSSION BOARD"??????? CAN WE DISCUSS WHAT WE WANT ON THIS BOARD???

A: We do not have a new general discussion area. We have allowed a few topics to be allowed to continue for people to talk about what they would like to see, but this is not the new general discussion area. Keep the topics to art related themes.

MY QUESTION IS, WHY ARE TOPICS STILL ON YOUR BOARDS THAT ARE NOT ART RELATED?

A: With the removal of the GD board, some are struggling to know what type of topics can and can't be posted. This is just a transition phase and there are bound to be a few topics that are posted here that are not art related. As time passes, the rules for the new boards will be clearer and our mods will begin removing more posts that are not related to the forums we have setup.

QUESTION? DOES ANYONE WORK ON THE WEEKENDS IN ARTWANTED TO ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS?

A: Contrary to popular belief, we do have at least one staff member on our site every day of the week, including weekends. If you look at the times when our staff posts replies to message board threads or responds to e-mails, you will often see these posts/replies on the weekends (like right now). However, it is true that we have FEWER staff members on the weekends, then during the week, just because it's an 8-5 M-F job for most of them.

MY QUESTION IS SO ABOUT WHEN WILL ARTWANTED START REMOVING TOPICS THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO ART IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM?

A: We are already removing many topics on a daily basis that do not apply to art related topics. There are a few others that we have allowed to be here, just to ease the transition away from the GD boards. In time, they will all be removed.

AW, would it be possible to have "Who's Logged On" list feature under the forums menu??......it would be nice to see who is logged on and when. Thank you.

A: We have looked into building something like this, but this feature would require an extra amount of database lookups, which may increase the loading time of the site, which is what we are trying to avoid right now. We are working on speeding up our site at this time, and once we feel this has been improved, we can look at other features like this one to see how they will impact the loading time of the pages on our site.

We had to delete a bunch of threads, because they were off topic and not related to this topic. Please keep this thread to specific questions to our staff that can benefit all members.

PS - We are no longer going to answer questions about past members and continue to bring up old news that pollutes our site. If you have a question about past members, you can use the CONTACT US link at the bottom of any page to contact our staff and get the answers you are looking for.

My QUESTION was somehow deleted but i will try to repost here......AW when someone click on member name in forum or anywhere else ....does that has anything to do with stats.....Will that be considered as viewing part of the stats? IF NOT Can that be made as part of the stats?

A: Yes, if someone clicks on your name anywhere in the site, it goes to your main portfolio page. This ask tracks a 'hit' to your main portfolio page, which is recorded and displayed in the graph at the bottom of your members area.

Could there be a way that new replacement images can be posted sooner than 24 hours? I often wind up uploading a new post, or upload, when all I need is to replace the one that is there.

A: The time it takes to have your image replaced just depends on when you uploaded it and when our staff reviews these for the day. We don't wait 24 hours to do it on all images, we just normally do it once a day, because there are so many other things we are doing on a daily basis. Depending on your timing, it may only take an hour before these images are updated in your portfolio.

PICS OF THE DAY QUESTION......The way this feature is set right now on AW is just like top ten....its actually duplication of the same feauture....Can u consider doing or changing PIC OF THE DAY following way:

If the member wants to select PIC OF THE DAY member will have to leave comment (without comment member wont be able to select pic of the day....Now once that is done that very same member wont be able to do favoritism again to that same piece due to the fact that member have to leave comment and member already commented on...That will ROTATE 1000's of un-exposed pieces and eleiminate favorism...what u think AW? lets separate top 10 from PIC OF THE DAY....right now they are working same way...

A: We beg to differ Bianca. All of the top ten reports are based off the most comments, or most hits, or some other criteria. The pics of the day have no criteria to meet, someone only needs to find some artwork and mark it as their pick of the day. Any artist and any image on our site can be the pick of the day without meeting any criteria or being the 'top' of any list. It's your chance to hight-light any artist on the site that you feel needs a bit of praise.

First I wanted to day How happy I am to find this site. Meeting other artist and sharing interests can help us all achieve our artistic goals. My question is Does Art wanted.com advertise in periodicals like American Artist magazine.. or other art/or even antiques magazines?

A: We don't currently have any ads in any national magazines. We have done it from time to time in the past and have placed ads in Communication Arts, HOW and other smaller art magazines. As our memberships increase, we will have a larger budget for these type of ads, that are normally quite expensive on a national basis.

I would like to be able to post images from my favorites to the Pic of the Day section. Currently it only works if you add them immediately and not a day later or so. Which makes the Pic of the Day and the top ten the same. Can you make the link to pic of the day available for all favorite images, even if they have been favorite for a long time?

A: Yes, this is a feature we will be releasing soon. We will be separating the favorites from the pics of the day, so that you can do just like you have said.

bianca 06 Jun 2007

AW thank you for your reply but i dont think u understood my Q.....in reference to PIC OF THE DAY.....As for your end yes you are right on the answer u gave...I am trying for you to prevent from same members picking same imeage from same artist being picked over and over and over again and again....I would like to see that once i pick someone's art and i out into PIC OF THAT DAY that i will not be able again to do so...another image yes from same artist but not the same image.....Did i come clear now what i mean....bottom line is FAVORISM

A: Bianca, our site is already programmed this way. You don't have the ability to pic the same art on different days for the pics of the day. Once you have picked it, then you won't be able to pick that image again.

Many other changes are coming in the near future to the 'pic of the day' feature that have been requested.

do you think it fair that a person who has been banned come on under another account or an alias?? Annie Lopez

A: When possible, we also ban an IP address so that this can't happen. However, there are ways around this and we truly couldn't stop anyone from being on our site if they were determined to get in. There are just too many ways on the Internet to look anonymous, so that we don't know if they were a past banned member or a brand new member wanting to join our site.
