Just a suggestion for some folks like me just starting .....in my case starting over again LOL. Since we don't have many art contest here can this link be an addition to other art contest in the art community that some of our members apply for? Of course the site and contest are legit so some of us can get started in learning how to do some of them and actually earn some prizes / money. OR as members start a post and others can just add them before deadlines. What do you think?

What about a portrait of your favorite pet or if you dont' have a pet then somebody elses pet or your favorite animal ...but it has to be painted by hand(not digital)

A portraiture contest would be nice. With Portraiture Photography being one of the oldest forms of photography, and with so many different techniques for portrait photography, it would be a wonderful opportunity to explore this technique with the entire Art Wanted Community.

Hi, I've been a member for months now and am still waiting for a contest as advertised when I joined. If you ever do have another, please don't be parochial and US-centric - realise there are many members from around the world who don't celebrate your Halloween or Thanksgiving and live under a blazing sun during your winter. I'm so sick of seeing winter contests in the southern hemisphere's summer etc. Thanks for an otherwise great art site promoting international friendship. Warm regards, Adrian

Definitely a weekly and monthly contest would be a great opportunity for artists here on artwanted. The subject matter criteria for the weekly contest shouldn't be too specific, however maybe different mediums should have different contests ex. Painting, Drawing, Printmaking etc. The subject matter should be something broad, ex. Black and White, or Artists who are left brained verses artists who are right brained. The Artist who describes/translates that idea into their particular visual language most clearly should be awarded a longer showing period, the award of a monthly contest winner possibly.

Are there any contests just for ACEOs and ATC artists' cards measuring 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches? Particularly in only one medium, such as oil, acrylic, pastel or collage. Not just anything. Please let me know. Thanks!

I'd like to see a really simple competition just for competitions sake.....I'd like to enter a competition that asks you to enter a collage of a daily newspaper. Any form permitted. I can think of many ways already.

Contest Idea:

An actual CLIENT who needs an illustration ( in any media) for a real life project. In other words, make it real.

For example: New Contemporary Musician needs logo and promotional icon for their CD cover. Their concept is "Burning Man". The party in the desert with 30,000 artists and people showing up for a week of celebration. 300 dpi image @ 15x15". Budget $1,500- $3,000.. One time World Wide Reproduction Rights. All other rights reserved by Artist.

Since this is an actual client assignment, there would be a financial reward to the artist(s) that compete and complete the finest illustration to successfully sell the client's product to a world wide audience. Not just "credit to the Artist" but actually financial gain to pay the rent, utilities, child support.

In fact, why not have a special section of your online gallery that posts actual work for the Artists. Real life potential to make art that sells to the general public. Call it ART JOBS. Categories for specific Clients, specific geographic regions, specific mediums.

There a number of very successful websites that do this already, you can keep it in house here at Artwanted.
