Artwanted seems to have forgotten the Contest section, there just isn't enough going on in this department, there should be something happeing all the time in this section.

What about a Disney Contest

Kathleen Oliver 16 Apr 2009

There are so many artists that do celebritys. Artwanted should have another celebrity contest.

I think there should be a contest for free expressive or painters with painterly styles or nicely mixed styles who follow their own rules like myself, a contest for those who have freedom in their work. I think that this would make for an amazing show, it could people a chance to view the many options available to them as painters.

thanks, -JROO.

(check out some of my work, especially the painting, "the so, spitting succubus", to understand what I mean)

How about any contest....Its been awhile...and the last few have been rather "cartoonish". Howabout some broader topics that multiple peple can apply too?

Marilyn Brown 28 Apr 2009

How about a contest with Experimental Techniques as the theme?

I think it would be interesting to try a medium based contest. Make the goal to defy the stereotype of a certain medium. Most mediums have a certain look -watercolor is watery, acrylics can be blotchy, ecetera, but that's not their true potential. Artworks that defy the nature of thier medium would not only challenge the artist but rise question whether the viewers should be so assuming. It's just an idea. Can't wait for the next contest!

I got this idea from my own work. I use acrylics but most of my viewers don't realize this until I correct them!

I would like another baby animal landscape.

I'd love to see both a photography and art contest for spring flowers. Everything is beginning to bloom - let's go out and portray a beautiful Spring!

I'd also like to see a photography contest on still lifes. There is always one for paintings, sketches, etc. but I haven't yet seen one for photography.

I don't know about everone else, but the winter we just experienced was long, hard, cold and depressing! I think we should have a contest called: "The Much Anticipated Arrival of Spring!"

Velle Gosselin 02 May 2009

contest ideas: skyscapes; seascapes; dreamscapes; surreal art with different themes ex. watches, buildings etc.; portraits (baby, children, celebrity, self-portrait or other type); still life (certain fruit, veggies, or items); mythical/fantasy (angels, demons, faerie, dragons...)

also, having more than one art contest per month with different mediums (photography, oils, pencil...etc) would be nice.
