"Growing up in Nashville TN, I remember Easter Photos with us in our bonnets and snow on the ground with beautiful daffodils in the background.............. "

They always look nice poking their heads out of the snow don't they Linda.. I grew up in a small UK town called Buxton, high in the Derbyshire Pennines. We often had snow as late as May and the Daffs were sometimes in full bloom by then..

lol... this seems fitting...:-)

"Daffodils" (1804)

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the Milky Way, They stretch'd in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company: I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought What wealth the show to me had brought: For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

Love the way that lush foliage contrasts with the roofs Nira... looks very nice there and 60 F would be very welcome here..:-)

It's beginning to thaw now, but much more slowly than our normal skittering of snow does.

Hope you're having a good day too...[[[Hugs]]]

Nira Dabush 03 Feb 2010

Terry, We had a wee bit of snow also in the last couple weeks (six feet). We are at 7000 ft altitude and this is a ski area so peolple are not too surprised. We also had power outages from a few hours to over a week dependent on where you were in our valley. (this pic is before that last snow hit). Gives you a chance to really appreciate the fireplace and the beauty of the pure snow. Pete

Terry Bassett 04 Feb 2010

Wow Peter!!... that's a lot of snow... lol... makes our bit look pretty trifling..:-)

Love that huge snow hat on the car!..:-)

Actually, here in Montreal, Canada, the weather has not been to bad. Hardly any snow and can't complain to much about the cold. Although we had a few rough days that were quite bitter. By our standards it has not been to bad. However, i don't want to jinx it and pretty much anything could happen between now and April. And as to the groundhog, well, we got the same prediction. Another 6 more weeks. But seriously, it is always 6 more weeks lol.

"I don't even know what normal is anymore Terry"

Hardly surprising Minerva... normal seems to have left the building, in so many ways..:-)

Terry Bassett 06 Feb 2010

Sounds like we've been getting your share Judy... lol.... well they do say it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good..:-)

Nira Dabush 06 Feb 2010

Terry Bassett 06 Feb 2010

We seem to have missed the worst, although we have a few large snowflakes drifting down at present.

Hello to all you cold people! Six degrees warmer than normal in Oregon, so maybe we just have global warming here! Even the mountains have half their normal snow.
