Minerva,

USED LENSES are perfect for those that have limited budget....I rather have used nikon lens then Tamron or Sigma NEW...

I can recomend KEH.COM for used lenses....They sell with garantee their lenses and they are very reputable...I do not recomend none from New York...All of those in New York camera stores are rude and dont know how to deal with customers...sorry...

Many in New York have real bad reputation.....google for review before u deal with any in New York...Although i bought my lenses from Adorama and B&H i will never deal with them again...

KEH.com sells new equipment as well...These guys are from Georgia and very nice and kind...

If you gona try Keh.com ask for DAN ORCHARD....i delt with him in the past and i am very satisfied customer...

As for Used lenses when u buy them or consider bying them...make sure that they guarantee moisture free meaning that seals are in good shape...

And that glass is free of scratch....Dont worry about outside condition...means nothing....its just facial....makeup...

There is special pen if lens from outside (body)has scratches to seal those scratches...

Most important is that lens is scratch free and moisture free and mold free...

Hope this helps

Minerva,

Tell DAN ORCHARD hi for me lol... Keh.com has 3 or 4 different conditions of same lens...goes by NEW,Excellent,Like New, etc etc pay attention to that ...and then ask sometime Good contition or EX- can be just Scratches from outside on the body...of the lens...

All in all dont buy any lenses if they have scratch on a glass...and keh.com wont have them anyway..Some used lenses might seem expensive cause they are used....but beleive me still cheaper then new...

Goodluck...

Keh is a good site, and there are a couple others that I would use.. nothing wrong with buying used, just buy from someone who will allow you to return if your not happy with it.. but it does take some of the sting out of the high price.. I bought my Nikkor 400mm F/2.8 Used on ebay from a guy out of Georgia..

to the latter comments i have been tracking various combinations of bodies and lenses on ebay. now i am not so sure if i should do it seperately. its trusting the seller to be honest really isnt it on lens states eg scratched , mould etc. i am still hunting for that affordable bargain

when I shop on ebay, I try to keep with sellers that have a high ebay rating, the chances of getting screwed on a deal is less. which is not to say a new seller would not be good to buy from.. I just try to use people who have been on there for a long time and tend to have a 95% or higher rating.. keeps me from getting frustrated with a jerk seller.. I usually will have several I am tracking. I don't see any advantage of going separate from grouping . Those bargains are getting harder to find.. everyone seems to know to check sources to see what the real going rates are nowadays...

Usually you will get your best prices if you buy from the user of the equipment but even they are getting more savy about pricing.. everyone wants top dollar.. even pawn brokers and stores that sell used, are using ebay etc for guage of prices...

It is the ones that don't have the time(or in a hurry) or want to bother to deal with it or just don't know, that you get the better deals now a days..

Having quickly scanned through the replies, I do't think anyone has confirmed for you that the Sony DSLRs do accept Minolta AF lenses. I use a Sony alpha 700 camera, and my lenses include some Minolta lenses (50/1.7, 24-85 zoom, and 100-300 zoom)
