I received a email from a customer who just spent $199.70 on my artwork here! That was very exciting~ The customer send me a copy of their Paypal invoice showing they paid this on 4/3/09

I immediately came to this site and find NO RECORD of any sale {?} Which really baffles me.

I was a Premium member from Feb 2008- Feb 2009 AS I never had any sales from my work, I downgraded back to basic and 150+ pictures were deleted. I currently have 97 works being shown.

I re-read the docs here and if being a basic member doesnt allow for print sales, why was my artwork sold anyway and I received no notices of any sales from ArtWanted???

I have submitted a trouble ticket. If I am not getting any commission for my artwork, then this customer should receive a refund and my art should not be sold.

I advertise ArtWanted all over the net with links to my artwork.It leaves me very suspicious now~

Has this happened to anyone else?

So , what I now understand and have been told, is that even though I downgraded, my art was still for sale, but not shown to me when I was online, never saw a store as I was 'signed in'.. when I signed out however and searched my name.. voila.. a store appeared and my art was still for sale.. Fortunately since the person who bought my art knew me, let me know about the purchase as a surprise for me.. How disappointed he was to find out I didnt know a thing about the sale, nor received any money for it!!

I am glad that AW is refunding his money. I just wonder how long it would have taken to discover this 'mistake'..??

I like AW and the friends I made here and dont want to delete my membership.I was glad AW contacted me and told me it was a mistake, that they arent selling my work while I am now a basic member and that it was a mistake they had my work listed for sale and that they are now removing my sales.

Since I always signed in whenever I came to the AW site, I didnt even know I had a store ,as it didnt show up in my MembersArea , which was why I didnt know I had any sales, ever.. so I think it was good that my brother was the one who made the purchase, otherwise this mistake would have gone unchecked and had it been another customer, not receiving their items after paying, might have made me look bad online!

I might renew my Premium Membership once all the glitches are taken care of.. :) Ave

I must agree with some of the others about this, as I see the majority of us want to sell our work, but I see it as a gesture that I must be getting better at art, and us old timers have seen many good changes, and besides, if I came here to just make money, well, I have not made a cent, but I am still here, It would be nice to sell just one, and maybe some day, and theres a reason theres a saying starving artist, I just have not got good enough or died, yet, and this new store, would'nt it get just as crowded, get as large as this one and crowding will only now have two venues to follow to sell there work, How about we collectivly make our years here and have a way to earn a senority like you must have this many years to post here and for this many years and so on, , One year a happy mention and two years a for a day, 5 years earns a weeks of special mention, and ten, well, lets wait and see, and there are many and many of, and I mean it with respect, "old timers" , I believe enough to make a new catogory, (distingiushed catorgory), and have a presentation of the ones that make it that far, and maybe present there site with a AW award, as you must have improved or at least be someone that has shown respect and show the love and admiration for their works and others that have been shown right here at AW, there is a lot of talent out there, and hard work. well,... that was just a thought, I'm excentric,... so I do get them. have a great year AW, Kyda

I think these are really great improvements! I especially like the STORE TAB and E-MAILED SALES. I have considered selling at base prices, but would not have known if I had made a sale or not before. Now I will know by e-mail - cool! And, there are a lot of artists here whose work I really love, but it could be time-consuming to find what they had for sale before. Now, with the store tab, I can see at a glance what is available for purchase.

I know people say not many artists sell here, but I do believe things will improve with the new features. I also tell a lot of people I know about artwanted.com, not just for myself but for all of the great artists on here. Maybe we can all try to get the word out as much as possible.

Thanks again for the improvements! I really love and appreciate this website so much!

The aw site is a good one, it is very user friendly and welcoming compared to alot of other sites. There are alot of really talented people here and I think to blame a website because you don't have any sales is absurd.If you want sales learn to market your work yourself, Artwanted is a tool to allow people to see your work and maybe buy prints or the original, but the art world is a tough cookie and in order to have sales we have to work it for ourselves. No matter how good a website is or is not. I find Artwanted easy to use and have enjoyed being a part of this community, it is not always about the money, sometimes it is simply about the exposure and the work itself.

Well I have to admit...I am an amateur, so a little insulted by some of the comments. I joined this sited for two reasons 1. to see what other artists thought of my work so I would know if it would be worth selling. 2. To sell my artwork.

I do get great feedback, but I don't sell anything...well I take it back once over a year or so ago. I am not sure if it's the quality or the fact that it's only artists who already make their own art and have no need to purchase. I do like however, being able to tell people where to look for my art without them having the option to right-click and steal.

Ya, someone gave me "5" on my Jesus "Trinity-Encounter" drawing and they deserve good smack! :P Lol, there should be some way to tell where those votes came from man, cuz if I go to that person's site, I sure want to see some 10+ material! Ha.

I think everybody wants to sell, and seriously if I hear many more complaints I am about to withdraw from here. Thank God I water-marked my drawings because I work way too hard on them for me being taken advantage of without any compensation.

Everything else is fine here and of course, I want to sell and see some money coming in - that is why I sell cheap prints - to get my nag fam off my back, ha! :) - show them some money!! :P

of the many sites, I have chosen this site to post my photos. Because I find that this site does promote an artist community and not only sales. It is one of the few sites that is proactive, upgrades and makes improvements for its members.

I have been on this site for a number of years now. You can find my work on just about all of the print sites. Only AW has sold one. Having said that I find Artwanted the best site for my customers. I grant you that most all are seniors and like the way the site is easy to use. Most of us have bad eyes and like simple links with big buttons. My customers do not search the internet to buy art. They are from the many adult communities here in New Jersey. Printing is done by my buyer. I just provide a file. A hint that works for me is to provide free art to the communities to display in their clubhouses..

You are welcome to purchase the mugs of your own artwork to sell at your show. If you are logged in when you place the order, you will get your artist discount on the items. Just stay logged in and view your portfolio as another viewer would and add items to your cart as needed. You can also contact us through our Support Ticket system if you need more assistance.

I have to say I am really pretty tired of hearing the attack dog mentality of some of the olde guarde members who seem to be always opposing anything and everything done on AW yet they don't leave. I am on Redbubble and have sold some things and its a pleasant selling site. why compare the two sites? AW is and always has been first and foremost a community geared towards friendship, networking, instruction and mentoring each other as artists.

Just take what you find here and enjoy it or go somewhere else and do that but please quit complaining about lack of sales. If selling is your main interest then go to Imagekind, Etsy, Ebay or Redbubble. Go be a merchant and Godspeed. Only come here if you want to be a part of this community and help to strengthen it.

Sheesh.
