Dominic you said: I had volutarily uploaded some pieces, when I saw them taking our work without permission I shut down my account.

But as of 10/27/07 2:45pm your images are all still there.

Bianca is right. All it takes is simple cease and desist letter from an attorney. AW could afford to do this. Wonder why they don't?

Susan Epps 27 Oct 2007

How does anyone know they haven't ? Just a thought....

Once you load there is no getting it off, you have "Contributed" there are NO IMAGES under my account any more but they still keep them, their terms of agreement covers that. Mostly I only loaded trinkets like colored circles etc, only a few real pieces.

It's like a terminal desease, once you get it you have it.

They are hiding ISTOCKPHOTO from searches and indexes but they are still there as well. Everyone thinks ISTOCKPHOTO came off but that is NOT the case.

Most stock sites are being hidden from searching, but if you want to look at collages you will find images and they can be shared from there.

They had 10,000 ISTOCKPHOTO with 50,000 uses and I will bet they are all still there.

I am an ISTOCKPHOTO member under my gals name (1 photo) and I have emailed them examples of their pieces still being on site.

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=216356

That url shows one collage with 7 ISTOCKPHOTO pieces, Photobucket and more.

So they are not coorperative and havnt removed ISTOCKPHOTO from site, any one can take this collage and add any images to their own collection,

serious litigation is a real headache, if they are commited to this prposition and feel their business plan warrants it litigation could be a real quagmire.

They havnt revealed their business plan yet but Pasha is a major internet person and probably has or expects to have some serious venture capital. Most people are speculating he will do a click thru purchase transaction to all the fashion shop items which is why he keeps the click thru link back.

I dont know what is on his mind but fashions wont live longer than one season, 3 months or so, so he will soon have 1,000,000 bad links...

Lisa if you search under my account DMELFI you wont find anything, if you search artwanted it is still there. Search artwanted and do a date sort, everything I loaded practicaly is older than the pirated pieces.

You know, Bianca, the idea of the attorney is good, but like you said, they are thousands of them doing it. This is the internet for you. The answer, don't show anything in the net.

Chris Callahan 27 Oct 2007

use artwanted.com as a search term. These people need to be stopped.

Brian Sherwin 27 Oct 2007

So if they say that they own every image on there... what if an image form a really established artist ends up on there. Someone like Damien Hirst who has the money to put them in their place? The sites use of words will hang them in the end.

Dominic Melfi 28 Oct 2007

They have been somewhat deceptive I believe in telling people like IPSTOCKPHOTO their stuff is off, they have removed major sites from search engine but not the items, users dont use search engine to copy, they use a color key mostly.

ISTOCKPHOTO and DiviantArt are still there, I know some artwanted people told me via email they asked to be removed, for what I can tell they are still there, Emily Reed has 6 or so pieces and I havnt heard from her.

But polyvore says you need to follow DCMA requests, I'll look that up and POST.

See my thread on getting organized.

Good news. We have been able to speak with the owner of Polyvore several times and they will be removing all past and future images that were downloaded from the ArtWanted.com website.
