Someone may have already asked this question and I've just missed it, but is there anyway to see who or how many people have subscribed to our own portfolio RSS feeds?

This is a great idea to enable us to keep informed of what's going on!

There are 2 ways RSS is viewed

1) a new version browser A) IE 7 will bring it up is a page when you hit button B) Firefox will create button on taskbar for each feed.

2) Readers These will not enable browsing in your browser but will allow your system to track changes on site, they can be times to notify you.

you must cut and paste the URL into the ADD URL function of the reader (probably under file menu) to register the feed.

The reader I have will automatically suggest the URL if it is the last page you accessed.

Then you have to set the reader to notify you at some time interval, I would suggest infrequently so you dont burn up to many resources.

When you open reader, it should show a list of feeds and you can manually access them.

THE READER WILL NOT ENABLE YOUR BROWSER, YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD A NEW BROWSER. here is URL for IE 7

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

XP requires Service pack 2, that would also be available at Miscrosoft... you should have sp2 anyway because it has a lot of security updates.

Check your software add/remove in control programs and SP2 will be listed if installed.

Thank you so much--this is so much better than Artwatch. I love not getting more spam. :) And my Google reader LOVES it. :)

I still have no clue how this works... 1)When I clicked on the "View / Subscribe RSS Button" I used to see the last 10 paintings of my fellow AW artist. Now I only see my Bookmarks toolbar popping up with "cancel" or "add". What happened?--- 2) What do I have to do to download my last 10 paintings and to see them as well at my own side as well as at other AW artists side? Thanks for your (simple please) explanation!

Helo wonderful AW ppl, I was wondering is 'RSS' only avalible to AW members or its avalable to galleries , eg people that buy art

Erin Morey 06 Sep 2007

Okay, so my button is broken. If you click on the "View/Subscribe" all it does is take you to a new page that gives you a bunch of coding. Can you please fix this?

Erin - Most web browsers do not have a built in RSS reader. WHen they do not, you will just see the code in your browser. You will need to update your browser/OS to one that has a built in reader, or download RSS Reader software (normally free) to view the RSS feed. There is a link to a list of RSS Readers on the www.ArtWanted.com/RSS page.

lynette - The RSS feature is available for all members with artwork on our site.

Olga - If you have subscribed to an RSS feed, and you return to it. It will normally not show you anything, unless new content has been posted. However, depending on your reader, you can 'view all' to see all of the images that have been posted in the past. For you to see your last 10 images as well as from other members, you will need to subscribe to each of those feeds, and then when you go to them, be sure to click the link to 'view all' posts.

Hope this helps, but if not, check out the many RSS websites that are out there or post your questions here. We are not RSS experts, but we can help you with the ArtWanted.com RSS feeds.

I was shocked to find out how many hits I was receiving :). Is there a way to display total hits for each image on each page? Or on the first page, total hits for member's site? Sure, it's ego stroking, but like website counters, the more hits the new browser sees on entering the member's website, the more curious they'll be at just why the sie is so popular. And popularity is... exposure!

This is an option that we are considering for our members in the future.
