I answered the survey, but wanted to add a post here and just say I don't like the idea of having Artwatned get involved in the ATC ACEO markets. One of the great things of ACEO is that you can get from the artists an original piece of artwork, and that when you buy it, you're making the trade with the artist. Involving a middle man, or in this case a printer/marketer, seems unneccisary and in a way cheapening the whole beauty of buying a card from an artist. I have been making ACEO for about 6 months and selling on ebay, which has really been a pleasure for me, and the community there is very good. Basically I don't see how Artwanted could really profit from this, and as for me I'll continue to look for cards being sold by the artist direct. Just my thoughts on the idea.

Tyler, we understand your concerns and that is why this program will be optional. For those that want to purchase only original art directly from the artist, that is great.

We are simply creating a program to help artists get into the ACEO market and raise awareness for these great cards. There will not be much profit in it for us, but we just want to help artists have another way of making money from their artwork. We encourage members to sell on ebay and any other place where they can make money from doing something they love.

Tyler what is the difference in selling your cards on here?, yes AW will take a cut, but so does ebay, for fees to display and 5 percent when you sell it, I am not knocking ebay, I sell on there too, but surely selling on here to each other and the public is the same as ebay?,---------- plus you can divert viewers from your cards on ebay back to here,--plus when you have no sale at ebay it cost you fees still for displaying, here it doesn,t,---- so can only be a good thing in my opinion.

I just can't wait to have a collection of Art Cards from some of my friends here on AW!! I think a lot of us will purchase them for that reason. Not everyone is selling them on Ebay as well.

For me.. buying them here is a sure thing I'll get some of my friend's art! =} I've also shared enough of these people's work with my friends and family. They'll buy them too! (psst... AW.. just choose artists on my Artwatch list!! hint hint!) hee hee.

I must live under a rock because I've just heard about this a month ago,,lol. I'm in! I'll keep checking this thread to see what happens. Can we take our art and resize it for the card size,,, or do we do the art the size of the cards?

ArtWanted.com Staff 12 Feb 2006

We will take care of the resizing for you.

I'm currently not with the print program because the sizes I create my work on won't print up right, from what I heard. If we want these cards, what sizes, or dpi would you prefer AW? Most of my work is created in 100 dpi, and I've printed large prints and they turn out fine. Would 100 dpi be okay for the cards, or must they be at 300?

ArtWanted.com Staff 12 Feb 2006

They should be at least 200 dpi, but 300+ dpi is recommended.

I think this is a cool idea I have a few suggestions if anyone wants to hear. I think the artist should be able to see the card before its in in prints, so the can see how much of there artwork will/will not be cropped...or has a setup to allow the artist that choice. Maybe certain select "signature series" can has a gold foiled signature by the artist. (you would have the artist upload the "art" signature to them just like a image and tranfer that to the card(s) with gold or silver foil stamping.also I think the cards should have a small border of white on them instead of the artwork going to the cards edge.

As you know, I am very interested in doing, selling...whatevering, the ACEO concept. There is no point in keeping art to one's self & if other people want to see it or have it, they may as well be able to BUY it!!!

I've been selling 2 & 3 D art for many years(30 +). I welcome the chance to sell more. This format intrigues me. I think my fans would love to collect them.

It is a great way to promote all artistic expression...I have already taken the survey......... Thanx for asking

Nope AW staff I answered the survey...Its not here...

Hi all, I have been making Atcs for a while now,and have been trading my mini artworks with other like minded artists on forums and other places.and am absolutely addicted to it.It is very addictive and siutable for all ages from children to grandparents, using all kinds of media from collage, paint, photography, drawing, stitching, sewing. I must say though that artists who make ATCS and trade them, arent always so keen on the idea of ACEOS,and some artists have made the cards a tad bigger,(still mini-artworks) to avoid conflict of the two,as the main idea of this was always to trade them. My two pennies worth for any interested parties.

Laura Smith 12 Feb 2006

I thought ATC's and ACEO's are the same thing? Can you explain why artists who like ATC's have a problem with ACEO's and what the difference is? Thanks!

Heidi Olson 12 Feb 2006

I think its a good idea all around. I think the sets are a great idea. I will afford some hopefully. I think its a good idea for business cards. For the artists..I was wondering about a spot on the card for our personal autograph for the ones we order at least. Gives it an added personal touch I think :) Just a suggestion though! Heidi Olson

Leah Jaarveth 12 Feb 2006

I personally think that would be a great idea :)

kim harrison 13 Feb 2006

Hi Laura, To try and answer your question ATCS are traded only and ACEOS are sold.Originally these miniworks of art were made to be traded, between artists, who work in different medias.I myself have a collection of cards, all traded,in handrawn, collage, digital, encaustic etc,and I love them all. There are various places on the internet and yahoo groups specifiaclly set up to do this. ACEOS are consisdered a spin off from ATCS,and the people that trade, really are not keen this,as selling them defeats the object of trading.Sayin that though there are some who dont have a problem with doing both. Hope this helps

ATC's (Artist's Trading Cards) & ACEO's (Art Cards,Editions & Originals)

Paul Traudt 13 Feb 2006

sounds like a great idea. Cards are very popular right now. Would this be like the print program maybe? I like the idea I saw of selling a whole art book of individual artist's works. Thanks Paul

David Swales 13 Feb 2006

I think the cards are a nice idea. Postcards would also be great if you could set that up too.

Kind Regards, David
