I belong to a group that does artshows and also looks out for people's work being misused for profit, tags, signatures, and so on. I'll post as soon as I can once I hear something that can be of help to you.

Please tell me the exact pictures in question

here is one of the replies:

Do a WHOIS search on the site (accessible form many locations, always at networksolutions.com) and find out who the registrar is, and who the owner is. This will give your attorney someone to contact. If you can't contact the site owner, you can contact the host and let them know they're hosting a site that violates copyright, and that they will be held equally responsible. That usually gets their attention :)

Will post more if there is more advise to help. :)

here's another reply (this has to do with anybody making a profit off of your work...I thought that this was an actual puzzle, but this is advise for merchandise in general):

"If it is being used in a puzzle, then a simple cease and desist isn't enough. They are making money on the work and must either agree to a licensing agreement or face stiff penalties. Puzzles are pretty mass market so there are probably too many in the system for them to withdraw them. I would check with a copyright lawyer immediately about your options."

hope this helps

here's another post Andree:

"When you click on the link to purchase products you get this message:

"Sorry, this picture hasn't been registered for use on products yet. If you are the photographer you can purchase products yourself as well as license your photo for use by others. Simply register your picture online right now, and become part of the internet's largest, newest and most exciting commercial stock photography house. You can then start earning royalties for the use of your photo. If you're not the photographer, but would like to use this photo on a product, you may contact our customer service department and we will make the request on your behalf.

Customer Service (410) 363-4800"

So they basically take someone's stuff, hijack it, put it on their website and try to make the artist or photographer register with them. They will no doubt require a substantial cut of anything sold. I'd be very surprised if they actually pass along any requests to use the piece should the owner decline to use the services.

That's just wrong.

For what it's worth 410 is a Maryland area code."

**these may be small steps andree, but maybe they can lead you and your attorney in the right direction**

sweet of you to say, but it's the group that's awesome....always helps to have many pairs of eyes looking out for other people instead of just one set...heeheehee i knew a bit on how to go about this, but this group just nailed someone using Disney tags for money along with other copyrighted art....I'm glad to help when I can
