Yeah, I used to find it fascinating as well. Unfortunately the constant mention of "blah blah number of artists on my site" and "blah blah number of posted videos on my site" has bored me immensly. Quite frankly I don't care about all that or the history of the biro or the biro movement, especially when it's constantly being rammed down my throat everytime I stop by this thread to LOOK at the artwork.

Pictures are what I want, NOT constant ramblings.

Linda, ballpoint pen art will be ordinary when it starts getting displayed in all the major museums, galleries, art books, magazines, journals or public places around the world. I noticed there are no ballpoint drawings in your gallery, Linda. We need a million more ballpoint pen artists on the Web in order to make that possible. Cheers, Stith

PS. Matt, all you offer is words. I don't see you showing any ballpoint pen drawings. Nobody is forcing you to see this thread. I've published more ballpoint pen drawings at this thread than you or all others.

I don't use ballpoint as main medium, but I love to work with them. In school, I always doodle with it because I don't have anything else (no pencil, and if I have, the point is not good anymore, and I think the standard pencils are too light. I don't like HB pencils). I love the shading and the darkness that ballpoint has. I should work more with it :P

Oh, and one more thing, Jerry. I have a real issue with how you seem to put down others who don't believe in your god or pray for his help when it comes to getting ahead in their chosen form of art.

I'd love to discuss religion with you but this thread is neither the time or the place to do that. In fact religion shouldn't come into it at all.

Bear that in mind, Jerry, there's a good chap.

Matt Deakin 09 Aug 2009

As I'm not a ballpoint pen artist, Jerry, then why would I post pictures here? That was never my intention. My intention was just to view the amazing art on offer but unfortunately I felt compelled to get involved in some bickering with someone who seems to think that constantly saying how great you are, what you have done, how many artists you know, how many videos you have on your site. You have a superiority complex which is just a little over-the-top.

Well done for making me aware of some truly great ball point pen artists but not so well done for trying to overexpose yourself.

You won't be seeing any ballpoint pen art in my gallery simply because I am not interested in doing any. I have great respect for those who are working with this medium and I really did enjoying the initial introduction............

I rarely touch acrylics either. Just have no interest in working with them, but certainly can appreciate what others do with them.

I really don't understand the "popularity" comment.......

My point was, and I think the point of many is that your method of introduction may be doing your cause more harm that good. Your intentions may be honorable, but, frankly, you are coming across as a raving lunatic.

I don't think that is the case, but in trying to raise awareness for your medium of choice, it would be wise to listen to your audience. If you keep hearing too much, then you might do better by letting this thread drop. You seem to be antagonizing potential fans.

Possible if you let this thread go, with all of the negative response you have had, and in a day or two, start a new thread with a few new pieces........ then follow with a new thread every few days with more new work and info.

Personally, I think very few if any are reading any of the lengthy info that you are posting. Instead of doing a copy and paste of all of the material that you find, you might post a few interesting sentences with a link to the article.

Personally I don't care what you do, it's your time and I don't have to read that stuff... and don't, and these are just my opinions.

Thought we needed some other entertainment. Life's far to short to fight. When you get tired of the song, turn your microphones down or tell me to take it off. It does have a few inks in it, but afterall that 4 process printing yellow, magenta, cyan and black are what I rely on to make my digital art concrete. Otherwise, it would stay red, green and blue.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen, This is Jerry Stith the founder of an American folk art program called Ball Point Pen Art. My folk art program is introducing what a ballpoint pen can do as an art medium here on the WWW. I started drawing with a ballpoint pen regularly in 1968 or about forty-one years ago. I started publishing Ball Point Pen Art on the Web in the year 2000. I’m currently publishing 800 worldwide ballpoint pen artists at my main site or around 4,220 drawings.

I’ve been a member at ArtWanted.com for about five years now. Over a half million visitors have viewed my AW gallery and over 6,200 most excellent comments were posted by those folks pertaining to such artworks. I’m currently at a ballpoint pen art thread posting ballpoint pen art stats, pictures, information, short essays and other related materials. Several non ballpoint pen artists out of the 20,000 active members are attacking me for posting ballpoint pen art materials!

Their desiring to take away my constitutional rights, freedom of expression or speech. They seem to think personal differences or style variations gives them that right. Non ballpoint pen artists are trying to tell me, a world leader how my program or self expressions should be presented. Some how intruding into my business has become their business.

Imposing their desires on me is some how justifiable. When does rudeness, abusing my constitutional rights or poor manners become cool? It’s really sad people actually think such tactics are going to work on a military brat. Lololol…. I’ve had over a million hits on my old Microsoft sites plus another half million with this forum yet some think the seven thousand at this treat is a big deal. God blessed me with His favor, blessings, gifts and many abilities that can’t be taken away by a few one liner people.

Wouldn’t it be nice if people stopped attacking me? Ball Point Pen Art is my agenda and attacking me is yours, so it seems. My friends love me and my enemies attack me! Cheers……….

May Father God Almighty bless each and everyone with answered prayers, amen!

Mr. Stith

PS. STOP THE FIGHTING...

You'd do well to listen to your own advice, Jerry. Most of what you just said can be applied to yourself.

Nobody likes a hypocrit.

(Romans 14:19) Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. (Ephesians 4:29) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (1 Thessalonians 5:11) Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (Proverbs 24:2) For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. (Proverbs 31:8) Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. (Proverbs 21:15) It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. (Isaiah 59:7) Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. (Romans 3:16) Destruction and misery are in their ways: (Proverbs 10:18) He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

I've sold so much of my stuff, I forget what I've done...didn't always keep photos of it or a record (my bad). I had forgotten this little ballpoint pen, part of the Villareal collection. It was about a 16 x 20 I think.

Minnie Shuler 10 Aug 2009

If you didn't notice...the little microphone button at the top of the slide show turns the music off. If you put a slide show with music on different pages of a post...the songs do not play at the same time.

(Matt 1:1) You're boring me now, Jerry.

WESTERN ARTWORK By Denny Karchner 10 Aug 2009

Pssst Matt. Just pretend he is not here....

Matt Deakin 11 Aug 2009

Hmmm, that'll work, Denny. Thanks. Kind of reminds me of one of those flies that buzzes round your head.
