Hope Alberto D'Assumpção is safe. He lives in Guimarães, almost at Portugal border (North). I think they had wind 130 Km/h +

Looks as though it's well on its way through Armando... grin.. I think you can sigh with relief now..:-)

It seems likely that it will dump a lot of rain on the UK's South coast

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, today.

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Good video.. I see there will be a vibrant market for replacement umbrellas and definately no shortage of water..:-)

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Yes, let's hope Alberto has weathered it OK!

Hi, Minnie. The only PERFECT STORM here is our Prime Minister :-))))

CICLOGENESIS ESPONTANEA comes from

CICLOn (CYCLON)

GENESIS (GENERATE, CREATE)

ESPONTANEA (SPONTANEOUS)

The meaning is A CYCLON GENERATED SUDDENLY, AS IN A SPONTANEOUS WAY. It's also called BOMBA METEOROLOGICA (METEOROLOGICAL BOMB) because it EXPLODES SUDDENLY, I mean: no wind or rain and in just seconds... ALL!

Yes, the one on January 2009 was more than scary. The damages were terrible. I specially thought of a place today: San Andrés de Teixido at Sierra Capelada. Last Summer I was there and almost cried. because of so many SO MANY! trees broken. There are wild horses there living in freedom. Poor animals! There is an image ("RAPA DAS BESTAS") on my portfolio-colored pencils, and I put one video there about this place.

Armando Salas 27 Feb 2010

Yes, Terry. Luckily UK's South coast will only have rain.

Beatrix Jahn 27 Feb 2010

Wow...that video is something! Noticed today, coming home, that our local river is flooding also. Those poor trees.......I bet the sound of the wind is scarey in itself. I wrote Alberto and Ana this morning, reference my trip to Portugal in April, and Ive not heard from either one back. NOW Im worried! I sure hope they are ok.........I was kind of focused on Spain :-(( with he storm!

Armando Salas 27 Feb 2010

Well, Trixi. Perhaps Alberto hasn't electricity. As you can see Alberto lives almost in Galicia. South of Galicia was the most damaged and I think the same about the entire coast of Portugal.

Armando Salas 27 Feb 2010

BTW in País Vasco (North of Spain, near France) the wind (in some places): 240 Km/h !!!

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Alberto may well be incomunicado.. I dropped him a note via Facebook enquiring how things were, but no reply as yet..

Those were some big winds Armando.. there must have been a fair bit of damage..

Armando Salas 27 Feb 2010

Yes, Terry, I think the same. Here, in rural areas of Galicia, there are electrical outages. 27.000 people are right now with no electricity.

My time: 00:14. It rains just a bit but no wind really, thanks God.

Authorities said we are still in Red Alert until 3:00. They just take care.

Good night from Spain and thank you all for your concern and support.

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Goodnight Armando.. catch you tomorrow..:-)

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Good news.. Alberto's OK..:-)

he said "Strong winds and much rain, but nothing more"

Armando Salas 27 Feb 2010

:-((((

Spain: 3 people dead.

Portugal: 1 (a kid)

Terry Bassett 27 Feb 2010

Loss of life is always sad..

That's weird Armando.. I just watched the last video you posted and now it's vanished???

Beatrix Jahn 27 Feb 2010

Good Morning from rainy Germany (but no wind!!!)! Good to see that all are well. I also got a life sign from Alberto!!! Good to know our buddies are well! So sad, that lives were lost. Seems that nature sure is angry, all around the world!!! Wish you all a marvelous Sunday... xoxox

Armando Salas 28 Feb 2010

The video?

Armando Salas 28 Feb 2010

:-)))

A "trick" is needed to add videos here and I did something wrong, Terry.

New atempt.

Video recorded on January 2009 in San Sebastian (Donostia) - Northeastern Spain. Our first "ciclogénesis explosiva" (=perfect storm)
