Even tho we are about 5 degrees below normal, these mid to high 60's with sunshine works just great for me. Makes it real tempting to start the garden, but I've learned over the past few years....patience....have a hard time with that after all the weeding to prep the garden.

Good Morning all ..It looks like another wonderful day here in the Northeast. we are suppose to reach 70 today. I'm sure that we will get there. I'm thinking RQ that I might put in a small garden of my own. Some tomatoes and lettuce ........nothing like fresh veggies from the garden.

RQ Trietsch 14 Mar 2012

I agree Martha. Just wish I/we had a few "extra" pennies so we could add some soil booster. Have a couple of rows that need some help. Decided to scrounge around and found 99% of the materials need to build a cold frame. The wife is always wanting to start indoor seedlings, so I remember building one a long time ago so thought I'd do it again. Our garden is 30' X 60'. Nice thing about this part of So Cal, is our growing season is almost year round. Anyway, we're still in the same mid to high 60's with the lower elevations getting rain by the weekend.

Ideal platting weather for the Northeast. I would think root veggies would not have a problem with the cooler temps. My granddaughter is pushing me to get it started.lol Kids. I must get off here and go do my shopping. I would rather pull weeds than shop. You have a great day RQ......Hugs to you.

RQ Trietsch 15 Mar 2012

Thanks Martha. I also hate shopping with a passion, really don't like spending what little bit of money I have.

Already planted potato's. Going to leave it in a designated row, seeing as how they just keep on coming back like a weed. The wife is still b-thching because I have planted any asparagus, but I was hoping to be out of this state before they would have matured. Oh well...looks like I'm stuck here for a while.

Another beautiful warm day here in the Northeast, Our flowers are starting to poke through the ground. I also have some flowers coming that i bought. i can hardly wait till they get here. i will be busy. 60 bulbs and plants to put in the soil. WE only made it to 63 today but the rest of the week it will be 70 and over. I think i will be planting my garden. Where are you moving to RQ?

RQ Trietsch 18 Mar 2012

I've had visions west, south west Texas, possibly outskirts of Colorado Springs, and just about anywhere is the south west: New Mexico, Arizona etc. Omitting Colorado, I'm really spoiled with So Cal sunshine and where we live, we don't really have to worry about earthquake damage except for the house. Well the forecast was almost right...Got a deluge of rain yesterday, and woke up to snow this morning. Guess I can kiss my top soil seedlings in the garden goodbye. No surprise. Been there done that. This morning it still looks like snow out there and the forecast says it's real possible. That will make the wife happy, so long as I keep the fire going in the fireplace.

Martha Miller 18 Mar 2012

WOW! Snow RQ? It has been in the high 60's and low 70's here in the Northeast. I;m sure we have not seen the last of winter just yet. So i'll hold off on my little garden for a bit. here we are pushing it anytime before Memorial day. , You enjoy the rest of the weekend......as i will mine...I'm going to my grand daughter play of Anything goes Up at school.

RQ Trietsch 19 Mar 2012

Is that Pete's kid? She sure has grown up. We seldom get snow, but it's not a rarity. Usually about every 4 years or snow, and most of the time it's not much. Yesterday was a mix of snow, "pop-corn" snow, hail and more snow. Built a fire for the wife Friday night and it didn't go out until after I went to bed last night. Good thing...not much firewood left. Today's forecast 44 and light winds...still cold for this part of Ca

RQ Trietsch 22 Mar 2012

68-72 and sunny but with rain in the forecast for the weekend again. I pity anyone who got ansy and planted their garden already. Had a couple of days of freezing nights and 1 day of snow (rare for us, but it does happen)

Martha Miller 22 Mar 2012

I don't want to sound like I'm gloating RQ but our weather here in the Northeast has been absolutely beautiful. We must be getting your weather and you are getting ours, We usually have snow on the ground here in march , we got our worst snow fall in March

The 1990s featured the MARCH 1993 Superstorm a combination of BLIZZARD and ICESTORM that dumped 12"-24" in the east...IN JANUARY 1996 a HUGE BLIZZARD DUMPED 20" on NYC and 30" on the suburbs...worst since 1947.

It sure was a mess around here when all that snow started to melt. Roads washing out ,and water everywhere. We did'nt get our garden in until real late that year.

RQ Trietsch 23 Mar 2012

I've noticed that Martha. Guess Mother Nature is having fun this year. 60'ish today with rain in the lower elevation, snow behind us by Sunday.

Martha Miller 23 Mar 2012

Mother Nature is just letting all of us know who is still the boss. lol

jerry carlin 25 Mar 2012

Snow in Oregon! I took this three days ago! a total of 7 inches. All gone now, now we will get rain. Oregon!

RQ Trietsch 26 Mar 2012

Doesn't surprise me Jerry for up there. Our rain storm moved in late yesterday afternoon and when it hit, the bottom fell out. Slight chance of showers this a.m. but warming to mid 60's by the weekend.

Martha Miller 27 Mar 2012

Good morning all, That warming trend we have had for the last week or so has taken a short trip(i hope) .I was getting right used to the furnace not running. I turned my thermostat way back .It came on during the night so all i can tell you is .......IT WAS COLD. It is only 28 degrees right now. No snow but a tad chilly, Well tomorrow is another day . I really can't gripe about one or two cool days ..since my winter was outstanding. I'm going to take advantage of this bright sunny day. have a good one all.

RQ Trietsch 27 Mar 2012

Hope that 28 degrees was outside :)) We're rebounding with the temps climbing back up to the low to mid 60's with 70's in the forecast for the weekend before another dip in temp.

Martha Miller 28 Mar 2012

Hi all The cold spell is still in play. It isn't really bad but after those few warm weeks it feels down right cold. I can handle this ....... Tomorrow is another day. Enjoy your night tonight and your day tomorrow,Where ever you may be in our beautiful world.

RQ Trietsch 29 Mar 2012

We're in for springtime type of weather for the moment. 74 today, with 75 in the forecast for tomorrow and then 65-68 on Saturday. Up and down but at least a little warmer.

Martha Miller 29 Mar 2012

Well It looks like we are in for WINTER WEATHER UNTIL SUNDAY........ we will have 35 to 40 degrees until Sunday. I will also add there is rain and snow predicted.with the possibly of a slight dusting. Monday we should ok and back in the warmer tempts,
