Leiteiras were called here (mind it is local dialect, not italian) "done del late" or "Babe del late" meaning "milk woman". They used to come from the hills around Trieste and when in town they stopped at a drinking fountain... what for? to drink? nooooo, to add some water to their milk!!! There is still a street called "Via della Zonta" where this fountain used to be. "zontar" meaning "to add".
As for the Afiador he was locally called "El Gua". You could hear him (no, i wasnt born at that time, i was told this by senior people) calling "Women, El gua is coming". Fun thing is that the verb "guar" has two meanings: to sharp knives, scisoors and so on, but also... to f-u-c-k ;)
