About the comments (decrease). I think the TOP TEN is one of the main reasons, :-)

I also see a WILD :-) activity by creating Groups. If you're an active member on a daily basis, you know AW is very demanding and takes hours. I think people is distributing the SAME time in MORE activities.

Going to check my Manage Artwatch.

Good morning from Spain. Going to take a coffee. ALL of you are invited.

Great new look! Happy to be a part of it.

Brenda Thour 22 Jul 2008

Thank you AW. I love the new look and features. I've been checking everything out, and it all seems very easy to navigate, very user friendly. I LOVE the idea of the playing cards. Kudos to you!!!

AW........I WILL HAVE THAT CUP OF COFFEE, ARMANDO, WHILE I WRITE THIS. :-) THANK YOU FOR THE OFFER. ................................................................................................ I AM WILLING TO BET THAT IF YOU TALLY UP THE COMMENTS, THE VERY SAME PEOPLE WILL BE IN THE TOP TEN, BUT WITH LESS COMMENTS THAN THEY HAD BEFORE 7/15. SO, TO ME, THAT DOESN'T MEAN A SHIFT IN COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE TO OTHER PEOPLE.

Sharon Gonzalez 22 Jul 2008

AW THE REASON I EVER LEARNED ABOUT AW WAS BECAUSE OF THE TOP TEN. A FRIEND OF MINE SENT ME AN E-MAIL IN EARLY APRIL. SHE WAS ALL EXCITED, BECAUSE SHE WAS IN THE TOP TEN ON AW. SHE SENT ME THE LINK SO THAT I COULD SEE THIS WONDERFUL THING. SO I TOOK A LOOK. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT AW; NEVER HEARD OF IT. WHAT I SAW I LIKED AND I JOINED, AND THE NEXT DAY OR TWO BECAME A PAYING MEMBER. AND NOW 3 MONTHS LATER, THE TOP TEN HAS VANISHED. I AM WILLING TO BET THAT MINE IS NOT THE ONLY STORY LIKE THIS. THE TOP TEN NOT ONLY BENEFITS THE ARTIST, BUT ALSO AW. BET THERE ARE MANY WHO WOULD NOT BE PAYING MEMBERS IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE TOP TEN CLUING THEM IN ON AW. I KNOW THERE'S DEBATE ABOUT THE TOP TEN, BUT I BET THE AYE'S OUTWEIGH THE NAY'S AND THE BENEFIT OF THE TOP TEN AND THE WAY IT FUNCTIONED DOES MORE GOOD THAN NOT.

POSITIV:

- bigger images - I like the new frames - more space

SUGGESTIONS:

- icons too important...smaler, softer colours! - Background too heavy....brighter grey to create space - infotext to the old position up left because i have to scroll to read it now. should be read very easy and quick - arrow buttons left & right of every image...bright grey. The blue takes all attention away of the painting & image

Fontproblems just need time...i think because it depends to the browser. AW artist should be patient in this issu.

Good luck... i know it takes a lot of time to create this and to make changes. i am sure you are open for the feedback of artists to give birth to a happy websitedesign and happy artist and Buyer.

Madeleine*

Madeleine Weber 22 Jul 2008

what do you think about this? I made the icons smaller and softer, i took away the blue of the arrows left and right, the infotext is in the left corner and the background changed into a soft version of aw blue

Armando Salas 22 Jul 2008

I totally agree, Madeleine. How are you, girl? Your McGuitarist? :-)))

Yes, I totally agree. I don't know who designed the new AW but I guess it was a male-team :-) because of icons (all male:-) and the damned dark grey suitable only for high-tech, jails or weapons.

I already read feedback from another artists. It's EASY to write "WONDERFUL", "COOL"... but a major change might get criticism as well. I'm sure the people that wrote this way don't like ALL the changes. Please, let's be serious people: tell us what you don't like.; after all this one is an ART GALLERY and supposed to have TASTE (ART).

I wrote it once: looks like the absolute star is AW Gallery not the artists. Artists are the bread and butter here, the real stars; AW is only the envelope. Of course, the envelope must be attractive but it cannot distract from the ART and artists, the real "essence" of this site.

I still don't understand why the changes haven't been consulted with the community of artists. If we were a community of plumbers or electricians I could understand it but, HERE ARE ARTISTS, people knowing what are talking about.

I know a major update like the one we had is a complex thing. I know no one can make everyone happy but there are SIMPLE but IMPORTANT things that must be solved.

I would love to know if AW staff is ready to consider the logical changes instead of adopt that ambiguity: "We plan to make changes in the near future".

Please, AW, tell community if you are REALLY READY to make changes. Please talk us about dates: tomorrow, two weeks, six months...

It's important for upset people here to know if you are considering our opinion. The positive feedback, good, no problem. But the negative one is the one you might especially consider.

As an AW artist since 2003 I have the right to ask for solutions and answers. If you don't plan to make changes, please SIMPLY SAY IT, and I'll decide about my continuity here.

Not only negative feedback:

---CONGRATULATIONS for few improvements you made. Good improvements.

---THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORT, truly appreciated.

---MY CRITICISM for your ambiguity and FEW HORRIBLE CHANGES you made (dark grey, icons size, etc)

All these positive and negative feedback are MY PURE LOYALTY towards AW Staff and the community.

Since I remember recent hard times (people banned, comments erased, etc) I truly hope this comment willn't be deleted. I'M NOT THE ENEMY: I'M A MEMBER OF THIS FAMILY. I love this family, do you understand? Sometimes I had to admonish my kids BUT ONLY BECAUSE I LOVE THEM. Just like I'm doing now.

Armando Salas 22 Jul 2008

Forgot, sorry:

The icons for EDIT and DELETE, hmmmm...

The one on the right is a wastebasket.

The one on the left must be a pencil but it seems a lantern.

:-)))

Madeleine Weber 22 Jul 2008

i realized that there seems to be a problem that images disappear although they are uploaded und suddenly they appear again

P. e. today full image amount is 445 but in the display composits there are just 112 images. Could be a software problem. and then, sometimes it shows all images and then just 64 images.....

AW I JUST GOT AN E-MAIL FROM YOU ANNOUNCING YOUR NEW WEBSITE??????????? ARE WE GETTING ANOTHER NEW ONE???????? HEAVEN HELP US!!!! ................................................................................ THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM EVERY DAY NOW. EVERYTHING OPENS SLOWLY AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL AND LOTS OF ERROR MESSAGES. MOST OF YESTERDAY AW FUNCTIONED THIS WAY AND NOW, TODAY, IT'S AGAIN HINDERING MOVEMENT AND COMMENTING ON AW. HAS THE HEAT OF SUMMER GOT AW DOWN AND MADE IT SLUGGISH???????

AW STAFF: There are still ton of things that are being done this week to the website. Many of these are bug fixes and issues that members are brining to our attention, but we are also doing a lot of big projects behind the scenes to the code and database. We try to do most of these changes at night, but many of them have to be done during the day as well. These updates that are going on behind the scenes are causing the site to be slower than normal and occasional errors to pop-up. It's only temporary and it's all being done to improve the experience of AW for the long run. We ask that everyone be patient as we work through these upgrades and database changes. It's only temporary.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, please keep it coming. No, we don't expect it to all be 100% positive. We understand that everyone is entitled to an opinion an there may be some things you don't like about the new site. We are completely fine with some 'constructive criticism' to make the site better for everyone. This is a community site and the 'community' has to like the direction the site is going.

Armando, to answer your question, yes we do plan to make changes as we have already said we would. This is not just talk, we are already taking action. Our team has been creating some mock-ups of alternative background colors for the site and brainstorming about possible color 'themes' that our users could select from. We are still gathering feedback from our members and working out possible design ideas, so it's not something that will change tomorrow. However, we are very actively working on this. If we were to give a time frame, we would guess sometime in August. As for the icons, this is the theme that we have chosen to go with for this year and we have had a lot of positive feedback about it. This doesn't mean that some of the icons can't be changed, or that we can't make them smaller, it just means that we don't plan to scrap them at this point.

Madeleine, the issue you are having has to do with your 'preferred gallery'. From the screen shot, it looks like you are inside of the 'photography' gallery, instead of all of the pictures for our site. We suggest going to: www.ArtWanted.com instead of 'photography.ArtWanted.com' and this should resolve the issue you are having.

Madeleine Weber 22 Jul 2008

thanks aw...i checked it! was my own confusion. So no software problem!

Sharon Gonzalez 22 Jul 2008

AW.........................I AGREE WITH YOU, ARMANDO, WHEN I SEE ALL THESE POSITIVE COMMENTS AS THOUGH EVERYTHING IS ROSY AND WORKING WELL. I JUST THINK THAT THEY HAVEN'T REALLY NAVIGATED ON THE SITE AND GOTTEN TO EXPERIENCE THE NITTY GRITTY AND MALFUNCTIONS. MALFUNCTIONS ARE NORMAL WITH A NEW DRAMATICALLY CHANGED SITE, AND WE ARE JUST TRYING TO GET AW TO WORK LIKE THE WELL OILED MACHINE THAT IT USED TOO. ARMANDO IS SO RIGHT, POINTING OUT THESE NEGATIVES IS BECAUSE WE ENJOY THE SITE. IF WE DIDN'T, WE WOULDN'T CARE AND WOULD NOT SPEND OUR TIME WRITING YOU WITH SUGGESTIONS AND TRYING TO GET THINGS FIXED. WE WOULD JUST MOVE ON...................

Armando Salas 22 Jul 2008

Thank you, AW Staff. Your explanation is satisfactory by now. Looking for the necessary changes and improvements.
