Introducing Zero Sales Commissions with PayPal

ArtWanted.com is excited to announce that we will no longer be charging commission fees on original artwork you sell on our site! If you have a PayPal account, simply add your PayPal e-mail address into your ArtWanted.com profile to take advantage of this new program.

If someone is interested in buying your artwork, and you have a PayPal account in our system, when the user clicks on the ORDER button for that item, they will be directed to YOUR PayPal account instead of the ArtWanted.com shopping cart. This means you get 100% of the sales price and ArtWanted.com does not take the normal 15% commission on the sale of the artwork!

We made this change to encourage additional sales through our website and to put more money in the pockets of our members. This is the first of many changes we will be doing to our site over the next few months to increase artwork sales for our members. Enjoy!

*** IMPORTANT NOTES ***

  • If you get a sale directly into your PayPal account, ArtWanted.com will not know about it. It's important that you contact the buyer thanking them for the purchase and providing a tracking number (where possible) when shipping out the artwork. You are responsible for shipping out the item and working out any other details directly with the buyer.

  • This zero commission program only applies to artwork sales where you are doing the fulfillment. It does not apply to the ArtWanted.com print program, which has not changed.

  • To add your PayPal e-mail address to your profile, click on the EDIT CONTACT INFORMATION link in your members area and add your PayPal e-mail to the appropriate form field.

  • This zero commission program only applies to new artwork sales made after 1/25/06 when the user does not use the ArtWanted.com shopping cart or merchant account. Normal commission fees will be applied if the buyer uses the ArtWanted.com payment process.

  • If you have artwork for sale that you will be shipping out, you can list those items for sale on the EDIT IMAGE page or when you upload the original image.
  • If you don't already have a PayPal account, click here to sign up and start the process of putting more money in your pocket.

WOW Artwanted this is FANTASTIC....now that i like a lots.... I have a suggestion Since this will be also involved INTERNATIONAL shipping and business...Can u do like ebay does List of countries with a option for the seller if they wanna ship to that country or not...as i personaly WILL NOT ship outside USA except canada..i will ship to canada....

Can that be done since u introduced Paypal now...If u place a list so when we upload work we can check boxes to which country we wish to ship or not????????? That way if the buyer is from a country that we didnt choose to ship to he wont waste his time and money to pay for it..

Glad you like the new program, thanks for the suggestion. At this time, all artwork prices do not include international shipping. For this reason, if someone is International and wants to purchase the artwork, then they would need to work out those details directly with the artist on an individual basis. This system protects artists that do not want to ship out Internationally by default.

Except of course for those artists who are not based in the USA and presumably, from the wording of your reply to Bianca, are still obliged to ship to the USA, but need to make special arrangements to ship locally?

Very good idea! Very much in the realm of common sense! I'm sure you will benefit far more in good will AND coin of the realm than your previous business model!

Hi AW, Absolutely brilliant, boy, is this going to do your reputation a lot of good !!! I'm sure all of us artists applaud this move, many, many thanks

    Terry Bassett 27 Jan 2008

    Good move AW..

    Just to clarify...

Does this mean that the ArtWanted contract, regarding original art sales, will no longer apply??

    ArtWanted.com Staff 28 Jan 2008

We are in the process of modifying the contract and some of the pages on our website to reflect this new program.

    Kelly Barrett 28 Jan 2008

    This is a wonderful change.

Does this also apply to your sister site, artcardswanted.com ?

    Thanks, AW!

    Anna Clark 28 Jan 2008

GREATTT! :) SO glad to have been a part of this community, and this is just the cherry on top!

    ArtWanted.com Staff 28 Jan 2008

ArtCardsWanted.com has a different business model than ArtWanted.com, but it too works this same way. If you have a PayPal account in the system, then card sales will do directly to you and no fees from ArtCardsWanted.com will apply.

Here is a link to a handful of additional website updates that were completed this week.

can we also put PayPal Pay Now widgets on our pages that directs a buyer to a Paypal checkout?

    ArtWanted.com Staff 31 Jan 2008

This is not really needed and it would not point people to your ArtWanted.com portfolio. You just need to point people to your artwanted portfolio (through links and the AW widget) and the sales will go directly to you.

I would like to offer for sale some of the paintings I have posted on my artwanted pages. How do I indicate which ones are for sale? I have a PayPal account that is not currently connected with artwanted.com How do I connect my PayPal account with artwanted.com? Also, if I consign or sell the works outside artwanted.com is there a way I can indicate those works are no longer available? Please respond and explain, thanks. Ellen Perantoni
