ArtWanted.com Charity Event

We want to thank all of you that have given your thoughts and your time toward the ArtWanted.com Charity Event. It's great to see so many people that are willing to help out those in need.

We have calculated the votes from our members and the winning charity that has been chosen is the 'Save the Children' organization. More information can be found at: www.SavetheChildren.org

"Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. Recognized for our commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, our work takes us into the heart of communities, where we help children and families help themselves."

We are now collecting donations through the end of December, 2007 in any amount. All members are encouraged to donate any amount to this great cause. 100% of these donations will be passed on to the Save the Children organization in January.

If every person that reads this page only donates .99 cents, together we can really make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children around the world.

To make your donation, please go to:

Thanks a Million!

Hope not, Queen, we don't need to know this. Saw where Bill Gates and his wife Melinda donated to Save the Children $500,000.00 and if your donation is the same, I would like to see your name. I think the members made a good choice, I voted for this organization.

Thank you, AW!

Thanks for your comments Minerva.

* We have changed the 'charity' page, so that it does not use the 'donate' page of AW.

* We do plan to add a 'counter' that shows how much has been raised for the charity. We should have that by the end of the week.

* As for the 'THE Top 10 Best Practices of Savvy Donors' this is great advise for general donations, but as we have already picked a charity and done the screening, most of these practices are irrelevant to this charity event.

Let us know if you have any other comments/questions.

Thanks AW for supporting this event!

Thanks John Enright for seeding the idea with the "what if...." thread!

Thanks to all who worked so hard to bring this event about with all the great ideas, positive energy, time and money invested in hope for the children of the race we all call human!

This was posted a couple of days ago and so far only 9 responded makes me wonder how many people have read this and how much money can be raised just in December. When this charity drive was mentioned first it blew up like a balloon the thread got so big now nothing. Are people still interested I sure hope so would be a shame if it was just another Hype.

Hi Minerva---I was hoping this would be big event front page and all. December is half over there will not be enough money raised to help anyone this should run at least three month. I am sure there were no E-mails sent out either.

Natalie Mason 13 Dec 2007

Ok, I am ashamed, I've not seen this yet, but now I have I will push it!

Thanks Renate, for the tip off.

Thanks Andy, AW, and John....amazing what you guys have created!

Thanks also to everyone who worked so hard for this....and for that reason, we HAVE TO KEEP THIS ALIVE.

Great choice...Save The Children....they are our future, after all.

God Bless.

That's my donation done!!

Lisa Savoy 13 Dec 2007

You know, I don't recall getting an email letting me know about the donating or anything.

No matter, I've donated:)

I'm not going to lie it was just a little, (I'm a drop of water) but add that to the masses and, (I'm a Tidal wave)

I'm very proud that this is finally being done:)

Also, (slight segway) Sorry, to everyone for my absence for the past week, (didn't want to miss this, though). I've been out sick, (not feelin' up to being around)

Angela Taylor 13 Dec 2007

I am HUGE on donating. I would donate more if I could but I am sure that many feel that way. I did not recieve an e-mail telling me that I could donate.I donated as soon as I saw that I could. I have to say that it is a WONDERFUL thing that you are doing! To help others help those in need is an outstanding thing to do. :)*HUGS* Angela Taylor

Sorry guys no hype here... I just have to say it is wonderful project and many people worked hard to start this...Unfortunately i wont be part of it...i am now donating money to WILDLIFE at grand tetons nat park..

Natalie Mason 13 Dec 2007

AW, can I ask, to maximise the Charity drive, and in light of it being Mid December, and pretty much everyone will be away or busy for the last two weeks, can you please extend this by another couple of weeks at least?

By mid Jan, everything should have calmed down after Christmas and people can come back here and pledge as they please.

Just a thought!

Renate Dartois 13 Dec 2007

I totally agree Natalie..........

ArtWanted.com Staff 13 Dec 2007

We have no problem extending the deadline for donations if this is what our members want. Hopefully we can collect a few more donations for the charity with this extra time.
