Original Post: Think, before you hit SEND

Although most of the comments & emails are very positive on our website, we are seeing a trend that we do not like. In the last week, we have had a half dozen people quit ArtWanted.com and want their accounts completely removed. In every case, this was due to very rude comments they received on an image or via e-mail. All of these comments were made from different people. This is getting out of hand and has to stop.

Before you comment on someone's portfolio or send them an e-mail, think before you hit the send button. Are you being positive and offering constructive criticism or are you just ripping on the person? If you are using profanity or insulting the person to get your point across, then you can bet your comments are not constructive.

Because of this issue, we are now being forced to moderate the comments and e-mails that are sent out. It's hurting our business and we will not continue to tolerate it as we have in the past. If we see an e-mail or comment that we feel was strictly meant to insult, then you risk your ArtWanted.com membership by sending it. Very few warnings will be given before accounts are locked or deleted, due to insulting messages being sent.

Another thing we have told our members NOT to do, is e-mail people asking why they gave a certain rating. If that person wanted to say why, they would have said it in the original image comment. You are only going to upset that person if you e-mail them for an explanation, no matter how good your intentions are. Don't do it.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET AN INSULTING COMMENT/EMAIL?

The first thing you should do is send it to us for review. Don't reply, don't respond, just send it to us. Otherwise, you will be fueling the fire and making the situation worse. You may even become part of the problem and get your account banned at the same time. Let us deal with the issue so that you stay the victim. You can always delete any comment from your members area that you don't like.

Please just think more before you send or reply to comments and examine your intention of responding. Play nice, and let's all try and get along better. Thanks!
