This work let me think about a movement in the art in the 90th. This movement is called TOYISME. It was in Holland, I don't know about the rest of the world. Toyisme is figurative and decorative and a kind of reaction of all art styles. Hoop you will keep searching in this field.

Original Post: AVATAR - The Knowing Within (new abstract) PLEASE CRITIQUE

As Part of a group exhibition I am submitting this piece. Please write with your feedback - 1m x1.8m As part of the painting is a narrative:

I have always been interested in others perceptions and the variety of responses to shared experiences. People considering the half-full or half-empty glass of water show this in action... it is all about starting points. This led me to consider whether light was the absence of dark or dark the absence of light. As a challenge to myself i painted my canvas black and interestingly it completely changed the way i developed this painting. I was particularly interested in creating a painting that would move depending on the light it recieves - diffused or directional. This mimics life in that we change according to the reflection of ourselves we see in the people we gather around us - friends. An Avatar is an image we choose to represent ourselves and tells something to the viewer about you. This is my interpretation of that basic organic form - at the cellular level. Worlds within worlds and the many layers that are people.
