What a beautiful story and a lovely way to express your love of your uncle. The painting evokes emotion and is very haunting. I had a client who came to my Open Studio day and cried over a painting as it was a nostalgic association for her. It is wonderful to be able to evoke emotions from the viewer as it reflects all that passion that has gone into the creation of it.
Painting I did from a photo I took on my way home the day I found out my Uncle died. He was my artistic influence as a kid. The Tree was off the highway and close to his favorite spot as a kid. The tree was ending its yearly cycle but was glowing with life at the same time. It was screaming for attention as I drove by... I did about 20mins to circle back and take the photo. I did the painting in about an hr up at his son's house on the lake whe he spent most of his last 6 months, and which I spent 6 weeks holidays up there with them camping by the lake, fishing and painting everyday. It hangs in Eric's bedroom today
