Johnne - Your work is ineed ART in my humble opinion. You use your computer to produce your ideas and colors - another tool - I have no problem with that at all. It's lovely work.
As some of you have read, we are making some changes to the way ArtWanted.com categorizes art on our site in March. This decision was made to make things easier for artists to find a category for their art, help buyers find artwork they want to purchase, but also add some additional sub-categories to our site for further define the type of art on our site.
As it stands now, we have 9 main 'galleries' that you can put your art in. However, there is a lot of artwork that can go into multiple galleries. For example, if you draw a picture of Spider-man, the image could go into the 'Art/Drawing', 'Cartoon/Comic' or the 'Illustration' gallery. We have also noticed that there is a lot of artwork that is put in the wrong category, so we will make it easier to put your artwork in the right category with some changes we are doing.
First, we will have 4 main galleries of art, instead of the 9 we have now. All artwork on our site, should fit into one of these four main categories. These will be:
Second, we currently have a 'media' category for all the traditional art, but there has not been a way to sub-categorize digital artwork or photography. With our changes in March, we want to add some additional sub-categories for the new digital, photography & sculpture galleries we will have.
Before we allow everyone to start re-categorizing their artwork, we want to get some suggestions from our members on new sub-categories for the following areas:
We plan to keep the 'subject' category, so you can specify 'what' the artwork is about, but we want some additional categories for these new galleries. For example, the photography section can be broken down into black & white photos, photo collages and other sub-categories.
It's a difficult task to categorize all artwork in the world into groups for a website, but we think these changes are a step in the right direction.
Please use this thread to post your suggestions. We will review them and add the sub-categories to our site for our March website updates.
