Well usually there is an option that you check mark on message boards that have this feature, so you can get the email notification if you want,
then in the emails there is usually a link to click to have yourself taken of the notification to stop watching the thread. At it would be a nice option to have for those who want it for threads they start or something

I would like to suggest that you implement a way to give us an option to receive email notifications of replies to posts at the boards.
Also a bit of html in them would be great.
