What is HDR?

I have been reading and seeing some things about HDR photography. How is it done? Is it a camera setting? Is it a program?

I would love to learn, any guidance would be appreciated.

HDR is a photographic process. It is the combination of atleast 3 different exposures of the same image. Software is used to combine the 3 images together. You can use Photoshop, Photomatix or I have Dynamic Photo HDR. This brings out highlights in shadows and a more dynamic range to your photos. I love it!

You need a tripod and if your camera has auto bracketing that will help you out very much. Your taking 3 photos of the same scene or image at different exposures and then combining them using software. It sounds complicated, but it is really easy to do.
