Hi! I’m Marieve Ortiz and between many other things I’m an Artist. I’m a very creative human being and since my arrival to Australia the beauty of this country inspired me in so many ways and painting became my dearly obsession. Although I don’t have a special training or degree in Art I've always said that I’ve learnt with the greatest artists around the world. I don’t believe in such a thing as to say that I’m a self-taught artist because along my career I met with so many different artists that had been my tutors and I’ve learnt from all of them. (Workshops, magazines, videos, travels, Art history and courses in Sydney Art School ) I’m a very sensitive and intuitive person and I work with many different mediums although my favourites are soft pastels. However I've recently discovered that artists like myself call themselves" multimedia artists" and I liked it!.. I love to work in any media as my subject or the moment in time requires. I love to create colorful paintings with lot of movement and texture and strong contrast in lights and shadows. With that purpose the first steps in developing a painting is completely emotional and intuitive. I must add here that music plays a huge part of my life and sometimes I paint to the rhythm of the one I'm listening. I can't paint without music. In "plain air" I have the music of the winds and the singing of the birds and that create the whole atmosphere for me to paint. For that reason I only work with the best quality materials being those papers, boards, mediums, paintings or pastels. My preferred subjects are Nature, flowers, people and everything that has good contrast in light, shapes and colours. I have participated in many art shows and exhibitions, but you won't find them listed here because that is not who I'm. I paint because it is my passion. I paint because it is one of the ways I have to express myself and create the beauty as I see it. I paint because I love to share the feelings and emotions that Nature and the world produce in me.
