Self Portrait

I studied fine art at Leeds College of Art and Design and read for an honours degree in fine art and critical practice at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London University of the Arts. I graduated as a mature student in 2003.

I work in paint; digital photography; film, slide and mixed media and have been exploring landscape for some time. I am interested in the drama of a whole scene and equally interested in the minute landscape, the details within every landscape that one can only appreciate by being in it or moving through it and becoming your own microscope. The photographs that I take of this nature are usually in a collection and belong together though they are dislocated from the grand vista in which they reside.

I like photographing 'evidences' as I call them. Signs and signals of the presence of human activity in the landscape, I leave the narrative to the viewer; its enough to say that I am always alluding to a human presence and how we have impacted upon a place.

Facinated by notions of 'the uncanny' and 'punctum'. All my works have narratives of ecology and fragility in the environment.

If anyone wishes to utilize my work as reference for their own you must first seek permission and must credit such references. There is a two week amnesty for anyone who wishes to apply retrospectively. All works digitally embedded and track/traceable.
