Magdalena Czubak Scholle, PhD

EDUCATION 2000-05 University of Warsaw, Poland. PhD, highest honors, Philosophy. Thesis: The Individual and the Community in the Philosophy of Aelred of Rievaulx.

1995-2000 University of Warsaw, Poland. BS, highest honors, Philosophy & Sociology. Thesis: The Influence of Cicero’s “De Amicitia” on Aelred of Rievaulx’s Conception of Spiritual Friendship.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2008 - 2011 – Assistant Professor, University of Warsaw, Poland Tenure-track position in the Department of Philosophy. Activities included Writing and publication of original research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, serving on advisory committees for graduate students, grading and critiquing student papers and tests, and serving as thesis advisor.

Undergraduate and Graduate courses taught 2008-2010: History of Philosophy: Ancient to Pre-Renaissance Introduction to Semiotics Loving Friendship in Medieval Thought Latin translation graduate seminar

2006-10 – Visiting Professor, Economic and Humanistic College in Skierniewice (Wyzsza Szkola Ekonomiczno-Humanistyczna w Skierniewicach), Poland Additional income position; annual contract to teach undergraduates interested in a teaching degree.

Undergraduate courses taught: Ethics of Business and Commerce Elementary Logic Introduction to Philosophy Pedagogy (undergraduate seminar)

2007 – Visiting Professor, Department of Law and Administration, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University A one-time contract for an instructor of Ethics of Governance.

HONORS & ACHIEVEMENTS 2002-05 Elected to Membership in the Scientific Academy of the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw.

2001 Elected to membership in the admissions committee, University of Warsaw.

2000-05 Full-tuition academic scholarship for graduate studies at the University of Warsaw. Supported by the University of Warsaw. Earned through highest-honors as undergraduate.

1997-1998 Co-authored a locally-published “Cliff Notes” for Professor Jadacki’s courses on semiotics, at his request.

1995-2000 Academic, full-tuition scholarship for undergraduate study at any university in Poland. Supported by Polish Department of Education. Earned through 2nd place finish at the 1993 Polish National Philosophical Olympiad for high-school students.
