Resume/CV.
Personal Information
I have had a variety of jobs and positions in my working life. I found it difficult to find what it was I wanted to do as a career It did not help that I had no parental help or guidance throughout my important early education, however I managed to overcome those problems and achieved a healthy working life whilst bringing up my now twenty seven year old daughter as a single mum. I have worked in the catering Industry in the service sector, this involved room service, waitressing, chambermaid.
I have worked with leather. Cutting, making belts and buttons. This involved using factory machinery of various differences in use and size.
I completed a years training in the payroll section of General and teaching Hospital.
I then returned to study. I then took a job as a trainee P/A in a local builders and home renovation business. I worked in the position for eight years. I virtually taught may self to run the office single handed, I learnt to represent the business at official functions, Arrange house viewings, Order stock for various contracts. Work with architects, builders, pay wages, training young people on youth training schemes. As my Employer was a highly respected shri Lankan, I also was involved with charity work for local underprivileged teenagers. He supported a large community in various ways, which I participated in also. This involved religious functions, Dealing with immigration, It was a great job full of variety, and unfortunately I had to leave as I had to devote my time as a single parent to my daughters upbringing.
For the next twelve years I worked in local Dry cleaners. My job involved all aspects of clothing maintenance and cleaning. I often ran the business for my employers when they needed a holiday with their children, or time off for their other business. Unfortunately I became very seriously ill, four years ago and had to leave work a year ago.
I returned to college and began a short twelve week course in computer operating, I also began an Administration level two but only completed two modules, and I did not think that was the course for me. I then took a Ncfe certificate in Interior Design which I enjoyed very much ,I did not realise at the time how important the course would be in my discovering my love of colour. I began to draw and paint digital art with design on my computer. I am at present trying to start up my own business in art and design. I have had a piece of my art work accepted for showing and review in a reputable New York gallery which will available to see in spring 2005. I will be concentrating mainly on working in the textile Industry; I want to see my designs on materials made for the fashion Industry along with, Logos, cd covers, business cards, and to be able to sell my art as prints for home and office.
