Artist Bio

Hello and welcome! My name is Lauren and I am a painter who lives in West Virginia. I focus on landscape paintings that capture the feeling of my state's terrain through semi abstraction. A combination of oil and acrylic paint is used to create works that are energetic, bold, and lusciously textured. Sometimes I work on location, with my field easel, other times in my home studio that I share with my artist husband and sassy cat.

I hold a BA in Studio Art from Fairmont State University and a BFA in Visual Art from West Virginia University. Also, my work has been exhibited extensively at various venues including EA Gallery in Swainsboro GA, Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, WV, James Brooks Gallery in Fairmont, WV, The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences of West Virginia in Charleston, WV and Arts Monongahela in Morgantown, WV. I am also a juried artist of Tamarack’s David L. Dickirson Gallery. My latest exhibition was a two-person show at Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley in Pennsylvania. The exhibit was titled “Brian Ferrell and Lauren Adams: The Aesthetics of Nature”. My work belongs in private and public collections throughout the country, most notably in the West Virginia State Museum permanent collection.

My upcoming solo exhibition will be on display at The Slingluff Gallery in Philadelphia, PA in April 2011 and at Redbrick Gallery in Martinsburg, WV from May 25 – June 25th.

I also write a blog which chronicles my career as an artist and acts as a resource for others. Please feel free to visit: http://www.laurenadamsart.blogspot.com/
