Katy Fillingham was born and grew up in rural Britain in the Yorkshire / Lincolnshire area. From a young age she has loved creating and designing. Katy now lives in Wales where she works as a veterinary surgeon and is inspired by the characters and scenery she is surrounded by everyday. She is awed by the magnificent colours and textures that nature can create and likes to convey this beauty in her art, using many different mediums, but especially favouring the durability of acrylic paints. Her art has an impressionistic rather than realistic feel to it, concentrating on light and shadow and bold brush strokes. Katy also enjoys experimenting with other handmade crafts such as papermaking, cards, handbags and accessories and making jewellery.
