Self Portrait

My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience throughout my days. I don't produce art about one subject or another. My work tends to focus on the expression and understanding of my thoughts and actions at a moment in time. I never set out to be an artist or to create artwork. Instead, my education and professional career were rooted in critical care nursing. But, serendipitously something changed inside me one night when I picked up my first paintbrush and made my first piece. I discovered a heightened sense of self-awareness that suddenly emerged and continued to grow with every piece of art I make. None of my artwork can be regarded as intentional or planned. The artwork that you see is a snapshot of a personal journey. There are times in life, when you have ups and downs, as well as excitements and disappointments, the creation of an abstract painting reflects those moments. Thus, each stage of my creative process is earmarked with a particular mood or energy experienced at that time.

Hopefully, my artwork can speak for itself. I believe that abstract art it whatever it says it is to the viewer. In other words, there isn't a wrong or right message hidden in the acrylic and oil paints. The message is always up to interpretation. I know that each person will take something a little different from the same piece of artwork every time they see it, and that is why I share it.
