Born and raised in Nebraska, a state in the very heart of the USA, where the sun shines brightly in the summer and winter cuts with a well-honed knife. Having brought forth a family (now divorced), Jan is the loving mother of 2 fine boys, Josh, aged 26 and Calvin, aged 19. Her heart is in the country she loves, having served on active duty for 13 years in the U.S. Air Force. She is currently employed full-time as a legal assistant, but seeks and now pursues a wider horizon, encompassing the true loves of her life.
Photography has always been a special interest of hers, but in 2004 she began to take it seriously. She is a frequent visitor to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska and enjoys walks and the beauty of nature, with her camera always in hand.
Tigers are truly her love and she enjoys taking pictures of them most of all. On her regular visits to the zoo, she is known to spend hours with them. She enjoys taking pictures of nature and the beauty that surrounds her, from the sunrises and sunsets to the animals and spiders she encounters. She also has done work with family portraits.
Jan uses a Canon Digital Rebel for her pictures and tries to never leave home without it, even for a quick run to the store. She enjoys going for walks on her lunch breaks and often encounters the squirrels that make downtown Lincoln, Nebraska their home.
