I discovered my passion for photography at a young age, capturing everyday moments with my parents' Kodak Brownie camera. Later, taking this more seriously, I started taking photography classes at my local community college learning the basics of composition, lighting and dark room processing. I delved in portraits and stage photography in my early years with my newly acquired Pentax. My obsession and commitment led me to obtain a certain recognition as demand for casting photography, Theatre entrance postings and LP covers came my way. But as I would not compromise on my ideas of photography (subjects and approach), I found myself avoiding journalistic or wedding photography that would have supported me in this field. After a three year relatively successful stint as a freelancer, I abandoned photography for a career in nascent computer technology (my major in community college). But I never stop seeing and often recording what I found appealing. Near the end of my career in technology, I became more enthusiastic with digital photography. As I was lately for 13 years in Toronto, Canada, I re-equipped for digital photography and updated my photography education, attending workshops and seminars in this great city. Not to overlook the many online resources like YouTube. I now dedicate myself to fine art photography hoping to share with you what I find uplifting in the world we live in. JP Leclerc
