The history that bleeds into the future is what motivates me to create art. The great artists of the past whether it be in written or visual form speak to my pieces allowing me to maneuver the charcoal, oil crayon, and graphite on the page to produce inexplicable pieces and that’s what leads to the importance of the art. The constant tension that exists in humanity is also the beauty that an artist can capture with a few strokes to the page or a few pecks on the keyboard. Coming from a part Cherokee, part Irish background, that tension exists within me, and I try to capture it on the page to help me reflect and grow within the society I live in.
