Joan Whitcomb was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Her greatest influence was her father who encouraged her to think creatively, first by studying music, then by studying art. Nashville was an exciting city to begin a career in art with the influence of the Music Industry, the Arts, and the Tennessee Walking Horses. Joan attended various Universities while relocating from Tennessee to Alaska then to Texas. Degreed from the University of North Texas, Joan has also many hours of study under various artists. She concentrates in oil painting utilizing multiple layers of color and generally expresses herself using Abstract Expressionism.
