Artist Bio

I was born in 1982, in Montserrat-- that's a little island in the Caribbean with a big volcano. I moved to its' neighboring island, Antigua, in 1983 (way before the volcano began its rage!), where I grew up in a little bit of paradise!

I grew up amongst artists and musicians. My mother, who still lives in Antigua, was my biggest influence. Though, she spent most of her time raising her 3 children, she always had a full supply of acrylic paints and canvas. I always enjoyed painting, but I never imagined I would make it my career.

It wasn't until college that I began to realize how much passion I have for art. My teacher, Lyndel Benjamin, helped me develop my talent. He showed me how to plan my pieces and pick out my own mistakes. He showed me how NOT to rush, but most importantly, he showed me that I already had my own style.

My dream wasn't always to be an artist. Ever since I could talk I wanted to be a special effects makeup artist. After a year of community college, at 17 years old, I put my paintings aside and moved to Hollywood to pursue my dream. I attended Joe Blasco Make-up Center, where I took both the Professional Make-up Artistry course and the Advanced Prosthetics course. I graduated in March of 2000, and began working on short films, such as "Hawiian Gardens", with Richard Roundtree (the original Shaft).

I began moving from set to set, and my career was starting to look promising, but I missed my beautiful island home.

In October of 2000, I moved back to Antigua, and haven't seen LA since. I worked with a good family friend, photographer Ken Maguire, as his assistant. He introduced me to "Caribbean Crews", a local film company, and before I knew it, I was back into Make-up. I did make-up for a Brown University, Short film, and a music video for "Fat Boy Slim"

In between jobs, I found myself with a lot of spare time, and so I began painting again. I had forgotten how peaceful painting is.

I took over a spot on my parent's porch. With a view of the beautiful clear blue/green ocean, and some loud music, I get myself into a mode where I don't notice anything around me, most of the time I don't even realize when a cd has finished. I get so set into my paint and canvas that I forget about the world around me.

I always have to be in the right mood to paint, I'm sure it's the same for writers and musicians. I spent a lot of time painting with my mother, we'd put on our favorite cd, and get stuck into our creations, occasionally we'd stop to seek each others advice and inspiration.

In 2001 I moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to introduce my work to America. In January of 2005, I hosted my first official exhibition. You can find my artwork on the set of , the locally filmed, TV show, "Palmetto Point; at Sand Dollar, Mt Pleasant; Diana's Resturant , Meeting St.; Canvas Creations, Market St; Wholly Cow, Aquarium Wharf and in various gift shops in Myrtle Beach. I hope you enjoy my work.
