The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx, constructed in 2500 BC, has the head of a man and body of a lion. It took an estimated 1 million man hours, or 100 sculptors 3 years to complete. This is the single most impressive piece I saw in Egypt. Unfortunately (as the story goes) Napoleon's troops used it for target practice and shot off some of the nose and ear.
