Sensual Orchids 1

This is my newest image. Recently I got the idea to begin creating still life floral prints. Since this is very common for artists to do, I have chosen to only focus on orchids and lilies. In addition, I was shopping at my local art supplier and ran across a tablet called "Art Again". This tablet boasts the best black acid free paper I have found to date. Best part is, it's made from recycled paper. Since the beauty in this image comes from mother nature, what better way to say thank you, then using recycled paper! These orchids are the most challenge floral subject I could think of, and if you follow my work-you know I only like challenging projects! This one stretched my colored pencil abilities quite a bit, and I have learned some great techniques to simplify capturing the best and truest color gradients from nature's own artwork. This is the first in a series of 5, entitled "Sensual Orchids". Here is the concept. Think beautiful floral arrangement meets playboy centerfold. You will soon see that each of these Sensual Orchid prints are specifically drawn to emulate the feeling of a centerfold. Each piece in this series will utilize the same soft, yet ever emcompasing light used when shooting a centerfold. In addition, you will find that the light reflections, and shading are done in "soft focus". This brings out the centerfold effect even more. I invite many comments on this one, but mostly I would like to see what you all think about how well the centerfold theme was captured. As with all artists I am unrealistic in my perfectionism, so there is always room for improvement. I really hope you all enhoy this piece, as I am very pleased with its outcome.
