Well, I appreciate your opinion. I didn't call myself that. The van gogh gallery wrote that. I have the greatest respect for van gogh and I could never create the kind of works he has because it is his voice and comes from his soul and mind. You are right about the double edge sword because I want to always be known for my own style like with the squiggleism. And while you feel my works don't have the sensativity of Van Gogh, I had an art critic say that I seem to take the neurosis out of van gogh's work. Like if van gogh's strokes were like a piano note like ding ding ding, my notes are like with your foot on the pedal. It was Van Gogh that opened my eyes and taught me to see the Divine in nature. I wanted to continue this and seek it out in my own style. And it has become my mission in life to give the world more Light through my paintings. It's one reason why I also do a style withhout the impressionistic strokes. I am very very honored that I have been compared some to van gogh. And where you feel I don't have his sensitivity, I paint with all my heart and soul in my paintings and I always seek my heart to be receptive to "Divine Inspiration" . Everyday I get letters from around the world from students comparing the likes and differences of Van Gogh and I. I take it as the greatest compliment in the world to have been placed anywhere in the ballpark of him. One art critic defined a great artist is, had he not been born others would not have continued his style. In that sense Van Gogh has to be considered one of the greatest. He is in my book. He opened my eyes to see. I use Van Gogh as my mentor. I read all of his letters to his brother. And I hope not to copy him..but as a student have been taught by him and to advance with my own style and my own voice. I can assure you, I have as great as respect for him as you. Van Gogh shines like the only star in the sky. I know there are others that feel the way you do, but you are the first to ever express that to me openly. And yet, everyday I get thank you's for keeping Van Gogh's spirit alive in my work. Like a singer that is compared to like a Janis, or Dylan, or Elvis, it's a great compliment but you also want to have your name to stand for it's own. I am very honored and humbled for any association with Van Gogh.

As a fan of Van Gogh i'm a bit miffed. Sure it's Van Gogh-ish but no where near the sensitivity and sensibility of Van Gogh. Not that I don't think you have skills, just think you should drop the "American Van Gogh" thing. It's a double edged sword.
